idioms

Hey Mr. JB,
Do you have any of those tee shirts that all the good pool players are wearing these days. It has an H word on the front and back! Hustling or is it Hustle, something of the sort? There are 2 kinds of things that the word refers to. Pool and ladies of the night. I use to hustle pool games all my young life. When I was on the road it was called Hustling!!! Period nothing else. When I go to the pool hall I am going to do what, hustle me a client.

Yes, indeed LNL, you're a Husla, no doubt.

Even in my business, the bar/nightclub/poolroom/biz we say our servers are great hustlers.....and bartenders, they need to be great hustlers as well.

The English language is full of idioms, we just can't take things literally when they are often figuratively spoken. 'The Game is the Teacher'

Ah yes the old anonymous confirmation. On forums it's standard to make the statement that "a bunch of people told me in private that they agree with me....."

Well to that I say that even in the USA there are levels of understanding of the pool culture. A lot of the people who post here are not gamblers or hustlers and were never immersed in the life. So they are likely to be just as ignorant of CJ's context as you are.

And yes, question with the intent to harass is trolling. You agenda is to discredit CJ which is why you go back to pick out statements to nitpick about. I understand it, I have done it, it's an effective way to badger someone.

A lot of people engage in trolling behavior innocently. I will grant that you probably fit in this category. You seem to be a naturally talented person in this area and probably have never had any formal training in the art of trolling. But nevertheless it is what you are doing.

But as I said, it's no matter because one of the great things about being a human being is the freedom to change one's mind. Great thing about being in his position is that he can make that decision from a position of world class skill. You can't and I can't. We can't play pool for (to make) money because we don't possess the skill to do that on a sustainable level. Our choice is made for us that we are relegated to low amateur status unless we decide to undertake the same type of journey that CJ and all top players went through with all the practice and experience that this requires.

CJ has been to the mountaintop, knows the route to get back and can choose to do whatever he wants in any direction. You can only knock him, never equal him as a pool player. Unless of course you are hustling us and you are really a top player in disguise which is highly doubtful.

John, why is it that anyone that disagrees with CJ, you automatically label a troll? Why is it that you have to constantly bring up his level of play? Going by THAT standard, maybe you should find out how others play before you say anything against them? If you want a pecking order to be able to speak ones mind, where do you think you fit in on that order?

I don't automatically label anyone a troll. Disagreeing is one thing, running around and nitpicking to cause negativity IS trolling. That is the essence of trolling.

I bring up his level of play because on a pool forum the pool professional, and especially one who has achieved what CJ did should be the person who is accorded the most respect. But that's not the case here where people feel very free to pick fights with little jabs here and there.

If it's about how to play pool like a champion I am very very very very low on the pecking order. If it's about what trolling is I have a lot of experience with that and can spot it easily.

Where are you on the pecking order? You said that people have told you that you can beat CJ. Are those people willing to back you in a challenge match? Are you you one of the 100 people that would be on the list to crush CJ?

I will state this plainly then. People who can't begin to touch CJ's game should simply refrain from debating how to play pool with him and I would ask them to refrain from being jerks in an effort to drive him from the forum.

And if you then say that no one is TRYING to drive him off the forum then I have to ask why not simply be nice instead of negative? My mother taught me to keep my mouth shut if I didn't have anything nice to say. I have failed to heed that lesson often and each time with unpleasant consequences.

Not allowed to say anything more about it. You and others saw to that. You don't want the truth. Have fun with that.

This is a reply to JB Cases rant to Neil.

Interesting how some judge the quality of the person with how they play. This is not a comment on CJ, either as a person or as a player, but rather on those (JB) who would comment based on the skill level of the person rather than the person.

I sense that CJ is, in fact, a person who’s character stands above his achievements on a pool table.

Your version of truth Neil. This is a discussion forum, let's discuss. Discussion doesn't have to be negative or attacking or designed to put people down.

You sound like Jack Nicholson's character in a Few Good Men. "You want the truth! You can't handle the truth!"

No one is stopping you from discussing things. You can discuss it from your perspective. You know I have never paid much attention to your posts on how to play pool. I mean I know you are a good player and you know stuff but I have never felt the need to read your posts. I think though that you have helped a lot of people.

Now imagine for a moment that you had someone who didn't agree with you on something you said somewhere. Maybe just one small thing really but they didn't agree and that disagreement got a little testy.

How would you feel if they parlayed that into stalking you throughout the forum and making biting remarks wherever you happened to be? If they parsed out your comments and used those to make snide little comments designed to piss you off how would you react to that?

Maybe it's not full blown trolling but annoying nonetheless and distracting to EVERY conversation you try to have. Wouldn't that bother you at all?

Would it be good for the forum? Would it be good for the people trying to hear what you have to say?

You have unfortunately missed the point. My point is that those who are pros should be accorded respect and civility until they throw away that respect. As long as they are being cool they should be free of attack.

You have to admit it's much better than 7 months ago when I first started to post. There's a few that gang up once in a while, however, they just say there's 100 people in the USA that can beat me and that I've never won a tournament, and probably "dog it" for the cash.

This reminds me of the drunk people that used to "act up" at the bars, and as they're being taken away by the police they are screaming "I know you're a fake cop and you can't be taking me to a real jail".....I'm not sure what happens to them, they never bring them back. ;)

I once had a false friend who was shot by a fake cop using a rubber bullet while being apprehended on a trumped up charge of selling counterfeit goods in a country which he entered using a false passport. I told him to get real.

It is much better here on the forum. I wonder if you had anything to do with it. Thanks for showing up and sticking it out.

1. Where are those 100 people?
2. Can I get a list of them?
3. Do they have real money to wager or just one of those Don Quixote Bitcoins?

Joey,

I agree. I think the forum is better since CJ has started participating & has not allowed himself to be bullied. By his example more are speaking up against the 'bullies' & tying to put down the insincere 'trolling'. Some attack back with slurs of 'fan', 'nut hugger', etc. but if one were to take a big picture, one would see that guys like JB (I guess myself) & others are more wide spread in their put down of trolling & personal insults & attacks. It is the practice that they are against more than being 'for' the one being 'attacked'.

I would love to see a match between Mr. Neil & CJ. With the right weight, it might be a good one.

Mr. Neil is writing a thesis against TOI right now in the Aiming Forum.

Best Regards,

Oh, don't forget there are some that say that you are just a 9 ball player with no speed control skills too.

Well CJ, I was being a little facetious when I said that it maybe has a little merit to it. I was teasing as I can obviously see that at the very basic level that I was trying it, that it was working. I mean, something was happening there.

I usually will use a lot of top and study the tangent lines, left and right English for ball control.

But, like you said, if using inside simplifies the game and lessens the choices, then I'm in to try it.

I have to do it tonight, watch my weight and see if I can get my angles better.

Weekly 9 Ball tourney Sat so will have a chance to test it out in rotation.

I will buy the dvd because obviously there is a much more info in it that I am missing by just watching you run out 2 racks in the video.

Don't use it in a tournament. Dude, use your head on this one. " learn billiards inside secrets!" spam, gimmick. How on earth do people that have been playing pool for so long not know how to aim by deflection. ??? I'm just gonna sit back and keep on laughing to myself as i watch "people fall into this trap". Shortcuts are almost non-existent on the pool table. Also, STFU to people saying im bashing somebody. there are two sides to evrey argument

Neil has that. The Troll's name is English.

Best Regards,

English,

If the "bullies", "trolls" and "haters" are reported, I am sure the moderators will put the Ka-BONG on them as necessary.

I don't mind disagreement with anything I write but there is a right way and a wrong way to disagree. Some people just have to be hit over the head to finally get it right and some won't ever get it right.

I showed the basics of TOI to a young player and within just a short period of time, he had a big smile on his face.

Hi Joey,

Yeah,

CJ's method of TOI can be awesome.

You Have a Great Weekend,

If there are two sides why would you want to tell people to STFU?

You say there are no secrets then tell every one to shut up. Oh wait you say almost no secrets.

What are the ones we don't know about then since you must know them to make such a statement.

You are bashing. So your idea is play long enough and you will know everything. No help needed from anyone.

Well I am going to go out on a limb and bet you have learned from someone somewhere. I doubt highly that you have reached whatever level you are at without either getting instruction, watching videos, or copying other players.
