Getting my back fixed tomorrow and will be pool-less for about six months. Any pics, jokes ,stories, etc. will be greatly appreciated. I'll be sweating a bunch of streaming and dvd matches and any tips on some good matches would be very cool. Gotta miss Tunica this year so if any Az'rs are goin', keep us up to date. thanks,Bill

been down that road myself, 5 back operations, hope you fare better than i have.

I ruptured my L5 S1 3 years ago & opted for no surgery. I can still 'feel' it & I can tweek it but for the most part it 'healed' on it's own.

Best Wishes,

The last problem I had was a herniated disk. I couldn't sit for more than a few minutes without moving around and standing back up took minutes to do. Damn that was Painful. Steroids fixed me and I was able to avoid the cortisone shot. Haven't golfed since and that was almost three years ago.
What are you having done?

Hope all goes well with your proceedure, back pain is pretty awful! I just had an RFA done last week and I could barely move around until today. Of course that means I'll try to get back to the tables tonight, have league tomorrow. :P

back surgery is no big deal

I have had enough back surgeries I have literally lost count. I was always walking between a few hours and a few days afterwards. Now when I was circumcised, that was rough! I didn't walk for a year.

Sorry to hear that, but best of luck to you. I hope you can follow the advice of your doctor(s) and therapist(s) to the letter and come back better than ever. Once again, good luck.

Been there, done that

I had a laminectomy in 1985. I hadn't slept more than an hour at a time for almost 3 months (slight exaggeration, but not by much). About 4 months prior to the surgery, I had ordered a new Joss cue that arrived the day before entering the hospital. It arrived quite a bit heavier than I ordered and I only had that day of decision to accept or return. I still have the cue.

No doubt, I was fortunate that surgery took care of my problem. My advice is to adhere strictly to the rehabilitation regimen. Swimming will help you get back on your feet. Learn proper bending and lifting techniques. If you ever feel another twinge, stop whatever you are doing and rest a couple of days. Do whatever it takes to avoid future problems.

Best of luck!

I had a spinal fusion a little over 2 years ago, it's better than it was. Two discs had literally dissolved into nothing, and a vertebrae had moved into my spinal canal and was sitting on the cord for several years causing nerve damage. There's some remaining damage in my legs that still causes a lot of problems, but I'd still do it again in a heartbeat if I had to. Good luck with your surgery, God bless.

This is what my doc says I will have to do eventually. He also told me to put it off as long as I can stand it since I am only 40. The disks in my back that have to be fused are the s1 and s2.

When I ruptuered my L5S1 3 years ago the Dr. recommended 3 surgeons. I had already gone on line for a bit of research. I asked which if any did laser surgery. The reply was that he did not know. He's recommending 3 Doctors & does not know if any one of them did laser surgery. I went back on line & found out the ruptured disc can heal on its own with REST. I did & it pretty much has 'healed' with no medical intervention.

Good Luck with your back & I hope you have no pain.

Regards,

Good luck on your surgery, I hope it all goes well, are you having fusion? I have a herniated disc at L5-S1, (C4-C5 too bit it doesnt give me much trouble there) I was told I needed surgery to fix problem about 15 years ago, but I am still holding out. At best only about 1/2 the people I talk to about lower back surgery are better off having fusiion. I have been getting my 3 lumbar injections every 6 months now for a few years, it seems to give some relief. Good Luck!!!!!!

degenerative disc disease, thats what i had 2 discs were gone, vertebra on vertabra on 2 levels and almost the same on L5-S1, so I got 2 artificial discs and a staliff(sp?) cage for the fusion thru the front(worst thing to ever happen to me physically) that was in 06-I still aint right.

Now in the last 4-5 weeks I'm getting bad hip pain on one side, this getting old shit aint fun or easy.

for those of you who dont have back problems god bless you, you havre no idea how lucky you are. I suppose dropping dead from a heart attack is worse, but sometimes i wonder-cause when your crippled up you get teased-your alive and can see life but cant participate in it....

Every day's a blessing. Life is the gift...not a healthy life, or a happy life, or a rich life, or a life full of skinny broads with big bazooms. It's what you make of it. Live well.
