Here's my story.
I recently purchased what I thought was at least a *halfway* decent table from a local company here in Tampa. I won't go into details because they have been extremely helpful in trying to help me resolve the issue and I don't want to talk bad about them.
With that said, the table is a complete POS and I'm trying to find a replacement. I've had my eye on the 8' Diamond Pro-am (I REALLY can't fit a 9', as much as I'd love to).
I looked through the forum here to get a feel for how much these tables were going for used. The 9's seem to be right at my max of about $4000.00 depending on age and condition, and so I figure the 8' ones will be slightly less. However, the 8' tables are impossible to find.
I called Diamond to get a price on a brand new one, and while I might have been willing to swing the $4500 for a brand new one, the $1200 shipping charge is completely absurd and puts me way over budget. (I just had my CAR shipped from MA to FL for $600!). Unfortunately Diamond does not sell tournament used 8' tables because "they don't use them in tournaments", so I'm SOL there as well. (Wasn't the 2013 USBTC played on 8' Diamond Pro-Ams?)
So here I am. I've been struggling to figure out which table to get. This POS I have now has scared me away from no-name, Chinese tables and entry lines like the Brunswick Contenders. What other options do I have for ~$4000.00 for a (at least close to) tournament grade table?
In order to make my wife happy it has to be black and be somewhat contemporary looking. (Smooth, straight lines, etc).
Thanks in advance!
