Gave up finding an 8' Diamond Pro-am...What are some other options?

Here's my story.

I recently purchased what I thought was at least a *halfway* decent table from a local company here in Tampa. I won't go into details because they have been extremely helpful in trying to help me resolve the issue and I don't want to talk bad about them.

With that said, the table is a complete POS and I'm trying to find a replacement. I've had my eye on the 8' Diamond Pro-am (I REALLY can't fit a 9', as much as I'd love to).

I looked through the forum here to get a feel for how much these tables were going for used. The 9's seem to be right at my max of about $4000.00 depending on age and condition, and so I figure the 8' ones will be slightly less. However, the 8' tables are impossible to find.

I called Diamond to get a price on a brand new one, and while I might have been willing to swing the $4500 for a brand new one, the $1200 shipping charge is completely absurd and puts me way over budget. (I just had my CAR shipped from MA to FL for $600!). Unfortunately Diamond does not sell tournament used 8' tables because "they don't use them in tournaments", so I'm SOL there as well. (Wasn't the 2013 USBTC played on 8' Diamond Pro-Ams?)

So here I am. I've been struggling to figure out which table to get. This POS I have now has scared me away from no-name, Chinese tables and entry lines like the Brunswick Contenders. What other options do I have for ~$4000.00 for a (at least close to) tournament grade table?

In order to make my wife happy it has to be black and be somewhat contemporary looking. (Smooth, straight lines, etc).

Thanks in advance!

Don't be in a hurry and keep checking Craigslist. I've seen some 8 foot Gold Crown's in black listed. You may want to start a thread in "Talk to a Mechanic" section of the forum and get some leads on who handles shipping tables. Get some estimates on shipping costs and you might find some tables in near-by states. Stick with Diamond or Gold Crown. You may also consider getting a 7 bar table like the Black Cat. Good luck in your quest Pilgrim...

+1 for Gold Crown

If you get lucky I wouldn't be surprised you can buy a used one for $1k or less. But they're probably tough to find unless you expand your search. You can go from city to city on Craigslist.

Remember to the Pro am is a 1 piece slate, so you need to have a way in the house..
The Diamond Professional is a 3 piece I believe.

Table is less then 1yr old

FYI and to who ever else is interested.

Diamond made 3 different sizes of 8ft tables.

46x92 playing surface is the Oversized 8

44x88 is a standard 8ft

45x90 is NOW the Diamond standard 8ft.

Pardon the pun...but go get a "truck"(Bigtruck) and go get one of these with the light for 2300...this is a fantastic price.

For whatever its worth....I bought a new Pro-Am from Diamond last summer. I'm very happy with my purchase. Total cost 5300...with delivery and setup/with tournament blue Simonis. In the perfect world I would prefer a Professional over the Pro-Am. I prefer drop pockets over the ball return. Good luck with your purchase.....

In Tampa, have you checked with billiardfitter, Wes?

I just tracked down his FS thread. Thanks for the lead.

Right, thanks. I have big wide double doors in front so it shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks. Definitely interested. Shoot me a PM when you have pictures and/or more information.

I found a pair of 10 month old 8' Pro-ams on craigslist in Daytona, so I will see what the logistics are of having it shipped over to the gulf coast. Thank you all for your input!

Keep looking, right now in Washington D.C.'s Craigslist is a Gold Crown lll for $350.00 or best offer. It's apart and has no cloth, but I wan't to go see it. Good luck in your search.
