Gabby from Texas ws not murdered in prison as has been reported in the past. Gabby is still in a Texas prison and will be eligible for parole in 2018. But he was charged with aggravated robbery so he he might have to bring his entire sentence, 2038.

thats good to hear he is alive, i think the sentences in America are WAY WAY to heavy handed now. the punishment dont fit the crime anymore, a extra 20 can be life for anyone over 50 years old in the joint. The privatized prisons sure have seen to it that they keep their customers locked up forever and a day......i just stop there.

Gabby is 60 years old now. He was convicted of aggravated robbery of old rich people. He is from the inner City of Houston. He has absolutely no chance of playing pool on the street again But he was a great player. He currently incarcerated at the Wynne Correctional center.

Fat Boy , just for the record about the sentences being too harsh for the crime, the crime that put Gabby away was cutting off the fingers of old rich ladies to steal the rings they were wearing. In this case I don't think the sentence was too harsh. I do agree that a guy caught smoking a joint serving 30 to life is way over the edge.---Smitty

Houston...used to play at Slick Willie's on Westheimer Blvd quite a bit back in the 80s/90s. Would play for anything but when I ran into him he was happy working nickel/dime hustles on shortstops. I played him a 9 ball race in 1990 or so even, for only about $20 a rack. I had no idea who he was, but I smelled trouble when he was missing two or three shots in a row (pedestrian, easy shots) then barely missed a 80 degree cut shot up the rail that no B player would even think to attempt. The way he was pinning the cue ball told me the bite was on, I quit $20 in the hole when he asked to double down. Mama didn't raise no fools.

I will check and let you know tomorrow, but the fact surrounding his crime might be untrue as the reports of his death In adition there were at least 2 other defendants plus a female involved in this case. I will tell all that I know later.

Hi Jen I met you at the Carolina Open. I am the the person that originally told you the Tracy Joe storry abot the two one hundred bills that Joe chased Keith down to return. But Keith knew Gabby from Hard Times in Costa Mesa. Gabby would have been mentioned in any conversation about the top player in LA, behind Keith of course as was everyone else.

Are you the guy with the cool jacket from Philippines? I'm pretty sure I know who you are now.

SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT: The very next time anyone tell the Gabby story about the fingers and the rings you can tell them you read the newspaer article about the crime. This is from an AP article in a Texas Newspaer in 1999:

Man senteced to 40 for robbing woman, 86
HOUSTON (AP) — A man suspected in up to 30 attacks on
elderly women has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for
aggravated robbery.
Mouise Pouncey, 43, pleaded
guilty to one charge of aggravated robbery for the 1998 robbery
of an 86-year-old west Houston
woman who was knocked to the
ground for a ring she was wearing, prosecutor Steve
Baldassano said.
Three other charges against
Pouncey were dropped.
Visiting state District Judge Bill
Hatten sentenced Pouncey, who
must serve 20 years before he is
eligible for parole.
Baldassano said Pouncey is a
suspect in at least 26 other robberies from 1993 to 1998. In
those cases, he said, elderly
women wearing expensive rings
or other jewelry were targeted by
Pouncey and an accomplice,
who would wait for the women to
get out of their vehicles.
Houston police said they identified Pouncey by a fingerprint he
left on a victim’s car.
Other state and federal charges
are pending against Jackson,
who is in the Harris County Jail.

I say this with caution, but Texas is not known for its judicial fairness in most judicial circles.

Gabby got 40 years for the sheer number of robberies and victims. I don't know howlies get started but I hope ths one stops. I remember someone being very angry at me when I told him that Wilt Chamberlain did lose the game in which he scored 100 points. Some of you no doubt still believe that. Had there been ANY FINGER CUT OF IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MENTION. 30 ROBBERIES IN TEXAS WILL GET YOU 40 YEARS. Would have been the same but had happened what has been reported to have happen he might have got 640 years.

That is me. I was proud showing your picture of me and my jacket to my son.

Oh, man, I wish I had that photo on this computer. It is on my old computer, which is in the garage. I have a bunch of cool pool pics on that computer.

Of course, I remember hanging out with you. That was a great tournament for me, meeting you. I really enjoyed the conversation a lot!

That is one fine jacket! Best one I've ever seen. :)

Hope you enjoy Philippines. It must be cool living in a new environment, meeting new friends, establishing a business, and being with your family. Good for you!

I've lived in the same place my entire life, refuse to fly on an airplane, and work like a mule at 59 years old. I'm on the verge of thinking about throwing the towel in and retiring. This old gray mare ain't what she used to be. :p

Keith will be back in full bloom. We have had a few medical hurdles we had to overcome, but we're both healthy today, thank goodness. I am glad we don't base our livelihood on pool, as we'd both be sleeping on a grate at this juncture. :embarrassed2:

Keith will be launching a new website this year with good news, I hope.

Let get it right!

Fat Boy your point is well taken, Privatized Prisons do everything they can to keep there customers and Texas has a bad history with its legal system.

The other thing I want to set the record right on is this. Gabby was the fall guy in this case and he might walk in 2016, he made a DUMB mistake by getting involved with someone known for doing anything to anyone with no regard and when they got caught this same guy turned on all involved and Gabby took the beat as the ring leader.

This guy turned states evidence, the first to talk is the first to walk, and that put Gabby away for a long time.

Dont get me wrong he had no reason to be involved at any level, but he paying for something he didnt do and some thing he did.

He never cut anybobies fingers off, but the guy that did talked, so Gabby sits.

Keith website will crash due to volume of visitors. Maybe keith can open a poolhall in the DC area. Brunswick will do financing if you find the site.

I have know for years that the finger cutting was a lie. I have told people to stop repeating the lie so as you can see I gave them the newspaper article. But, guess what, they will still tell the lie. I knew Gabby and with the exception of Keith there were not many who was favorite by much to beat Gabby. But Gabby become eligible for parole in 2018. His mandatory realease is 2038.
