The curse of owning 150 or so cues, many old ones, is the feeling that you have to play with them.
Consequently I try a lot of different tips, and the newer Moori mediums hit pretty hard.
I have played with Moori mediums on various cues for years off & on, and those cues were all terrific players.
A local collector & I do a lot of trading and he had to have Moori mediums on every shaft he owns.
This guy is a very good pool player.
I sell him cues that play great, he changes the tips, and then he doesn't like the way they play.
The tips get changed to something else and then he likes them again.
I took back two Cog's I sold him and couldn't believe the change, it was like hitting with a steel rod on all 4-shafts.
No way he would of bought the Cog's in the first place if they hit like that.
Same issue with every cue he owned until I proved it to him.
He bought the Cog's again, put Kamui black softs on all 4-shafts, and he loves the way they play.
I'm not a big Kamui fan either, but the Black soft hits pretty good.
Personally I prefer a medium-hard tip, but the new Moori mediums are too hard to the point that there seems to be something wrong.
Yesterday we discussed this same issue, and even considered they way his favorite cuemaker was doing things, but it's not installation, and his installer is one of the best.
This can only be my opinion at this point, but like I said, I don't like the new version of Moori medium tips, they don't hit like the old ones.
