Oh Geez. Get well soon Gene, I hope it's nothing serious. I suspect to find out, it will require some expensive medical testing - cat scan, x-ray, MRI... And without med insurance or the guy's insurance who rear ended you... Ouch again. Best of fortune moving forward, I hope it works out as best as possible!

Geno, you're a nice guy and all, but I think you learned a valuable lesson on this one. NEVER wave someone off if they hit you, even if you think it was only a "tap." Especially if 1.) you're not carrying any medical/health insurance; 2.) it's dark; 3.) you know you blacked out on impact; 4.) even if you're convinced you feel ok at the moment, at least make a note of the license plate for future reference. At the very least, the other guy's insurance can cover any tests or procedures.

It's especially no big deal when the guy was "extremely apologetic" as he was -- that was the time to do some quick information gathering, and *then* wave him off if you feel you must be a good Samaritan. He would've felt the same "good will" you extended him, whether you took information or not.

I hope this resolves for you and you get the care you need,

I had read about it in Geno's thread already....really SUCKS! Hopefully it is a mild concussion and the effects will fade away in a short time.

Peoria folks can't drive, I know, cuz I can't either. We are taught traffic signs and laws are only "suggestions". All joking aside - get well Gene

wow obama care sure is helping those out in need, and most people in need are high velocity trauma victims. nice.

I sure feel bad for him, I hope there is no lasting injury, how in good conscience can the "I took the oath" doctors sleep at night. Want to talk about bad guys with no conscience its them.

Thats why i'm in Germany, because American doctors dont care. Period. I cant find a Dr in America to take a personal or professional interest in my problems(not my back, i have a new problem-should make some of you happy).

Our health care(thats a oxymoron) is shameful.

Ok i'm putting my soap box away, but its not right that if you dont got the bread, they let you bleed out. What if his brain swells, nobody cares enough to relieve the pressure.


I hate the health care system in America.

Lists are not always accurate, so i take this with 2 grains of salt and one pepper. It is spot on with the USA and Germany comparison

Check out Kerlan-Jobe, they're right off La Cienega and the 405 or somewhere around there. I know at least 15 years ago they were the official docs of all of the L.A. sports teams, plus countless other places in the area and had quite the list of famous patients as well.

As for Gene, I hope this doesn't turn into another sad tale of medical problems causing the downfall of a player. Take a rest and get your body well - there are a lot of people out there counting on you.

i know where thats at thanks :), problem is the FDA and law suits the docs in America have to deal with, so in there defense they (i know some personally for years) they pick their cases carefully, because I had 5 back operations in Germany, they are scared to death of me. I sign all their waivers, arbitration agreements, give them my health insurance (king kong strong) and a Amex Black Card and they still won't do anything but basic blood work.


Gene is a hell of a good guy, and done lots for pool, i really really hope he is ok, and recovers with little or no pain.

not only heath care systems have changed so has pool! Alternate break. As obama says everybody gets a fair shoot! Winners become losers! What a screwed up world we all live in! No rewards for hard work and winning!

Might be worth hiring a PI for a couple hundred, can't be many orange jeeps in Peoria!!!

Sorting registered owner by age and color, should be fairly easy to find I would think.

Sounds like a post-concussive syndrome Gene.

No real treatment for it though, just time and avoiding another brain trauma. At this point an MRI wouldn't serve any purpose. It can take several months to recover from a traumatic brain injury. It is possible he may have some residual issues with balance, headache ect...
 
Thanks everyone. It's been tough............

It's been 2 weeks and I can play some again. My vision isn't the best but my headaches are gone.

Having trouble sleeping and the ears are constantly ringing. My memory is terrible.

I've also been slurring my words some here and there.

I gave lessons all day at Cue Masters in Dubuque today. I was going to play in the tourny if I felt good this morning. They decided it for me deciding I'm an Elite Player and not allowed to play.

So i set up a table and taught and played.

This is the first day that I could actually play well. It was really fun again even though I still feel real dizzy and have to watch my balance.

I can't believe that a concussion could do this.

I really blew it with this deal. i was in such a fog. My eyes were almost always closed after getting out of my vehicle with my hands on my neck. i was in a lot of pain.

This guy shouldn't have taken off no matter what I said. It was obvious that I was in real trouble and allot of pain.I didn't even know what planet I was on for sure. I sure hope i find him.

I tried the police. They were no help and told me it isn't like on TV.

then I called 2 private investigators and basically they both told me good luck with mission impossible.

It looks like the only way to find this guy is to go to Peoria and just hang out on the road and see if he comes by with his brown jeep wrangler. At least that is what I think he was driving. I only saw the front. It was a jeep and it had the configuration of the wrangler. It was pretty solid and sure packed a whallop.

If anyone real knowledge on how to find this guy I sure would like to know.

He had light short hair with glasses. About 5'8" tall amd about 170 lbs. His girlfriend or wife had shoulder length blond hair and was kind of petite. . She was pretty upset i could tell.

He sure did appoligize allot in the short time we talked.

I sure wish he would appoligize by getting ahold of me and lend a helping hand with his insurance.

The medical bills are already over $10,000. My car insurance will pay $10,000 for my medical.

The good news is I'm back on the road again. A little dizzy but back.

I still have allot of work to do.
