shipping... would u ship a black boar worth 7.5k via ur local post office???

I think you are asking a question most here on az have no knowledge of....your in Europe asking input on shipping in Italy and Indo. and the seller sent your package ground dhl instead of express and you got a message from DHL(hq in germany) that a package has been shipped but there is little tracking info correct? All I can say is DHL the worst at tracking...I have bought items on ebay lately that sellers use some dhl service to send there packages and sometimes i get the package even before they track it!.As far as company's I mentioned tracking systems creating scans i have proof. I recently ordered a dehumidifer from amazon and it gave a est delivery date. Well the item came in 3 days(great) but the tracking info came the same day it was delivered and when I entered the tracking the first scan said it was delivered and the next 4 entry's were scans after the package was delivered with dates after it arrived! ITS called logistics....they can create what ever they want you to believe. So tracking is not always 100%.

sorry... but I think you didn't understand my question... my question was... would u ship a 7.5k cue via any sorts of transportation except express... even thou the buyer is taking the risks involved?? n the buyer requested it to be sent express???... I honestly don't think so

Lots of people misunderstanding your question....so I'm wondering if the well respected member seller might have misunderstood your request for DHL or FEX Express and simply chosen what he thought what the first option you gave him "DHL"......

or maybe you feel the need to villanize the guy over what could very easily be a miscommunication.....I read your shipping choices (twice) as

1) DHL

or

2) FedEx Express

just saying

Starting threads like this won't lead to much understanding (if that was your intention) as you will get plenty of opinion from guys who have never shipped ANY cue Internationally, no ANY cues at 7K anywhere ever.

Sorry it happened

I sent an 8k Gina via the post office. It got to China in 7 days without a hitch. It had tracking and no extra insurance at the buyer's request.

Yup, that's how you go, USPS Express, no insurance and declared as "used pool cue" valued at $100 for customs and it will sail though with tracking to customs in and out.

Both UPS and FedEx have their own customs brokerage service so they are a bit stickier about what you are sending and what you declare it as (its their profit).

I think in my opinion we are all responsible buyers n sellers here...is it difficult to understand when u get a request stating dhl or FedEx ... express... means that if u choose any it must be express???? I guess not.. I hope non of you azers are feeling this situation... ever... 7.5 k is allot of money...for me it is

Finger pointing sure feels great, I'm sure. All I'm suggesting is that with $7.5K of your money at risk you might have wanted to take a little responsibility and be a little more clear about your preferences.

But here you are in the situation you are in. Whether you learn from it or not is your choice. If all you want is a bunch of folks to support you while you blame someone else, you have come to the right place.

Thanks

Kevin

FedEx has priced itself out of getting any business from me. Where I live, DHL isn't a good option, as there's not an office nearby to drop a package off.

USPS International is the only service I will use.....it's cost effective, reliable, trackable, and relatively fast. If the item needs to get there the fastest manner, Express Mail option is fine, almost always within a week (in the customer's hands). I could not imagine sending anything over $100 to a customer that's parcel with no tracking option.

no finger pointing at all... just giving an example of what should have been done! if I was finger pointing I would mention the seller but I haven't ...
n I think it's a good example of a mistake that shouldn't be repeated...

I once had a guitar I purchased on ebay shipped to me via postal. Apparently the guy didn't have a large enough box so he left the head stock sticking completely exposed out of the top.
It arrived in perfect condition.

cool Idea... I guess I'll be getting myself a guitar if I don't get the cue....

That's an awesome story. I ship a lot of stuff a week, almost all USPS. I don't know how much of what I believe is true, but I think that USPS's relative lack of automation (as compared to FedEx or UPS) actually makes it more reliable as far as handling goes.

I've had unbelievable "luck" shipping extremely valuable items USPS.

I would have freaked when that guitar arrived.

I had USPS steal from me even with a tracking number. They just say it was delivered and if you don't have insurance where they will have to pay they won't do anything about it. I will never do business with USPS again, nor will I accept anything from anyone who wants to use them.

If I had requested a specific means of shipping and it didn't happen, I'd be pissed too. I truly hope everything gets to you. It is always stressful when valuables are in transit and I've had one or two occasions where items got sidetracked in shipping but eventually they did find their way home. Any cue of this value should never go parcel and I agree with Eric about insuring only for enough to get everyone's attention. While I haven't had the misfortune of having to file a claim, I find it hard to believe that any carrier, no matter what, would ever reimburse you for a lost or damaged cue insured for $7k or higher. Perhaps through a private insurer but not a shipper. Please let us know when you get it!:)

I've had one too many issues with USPS... I will never use them again.

For me, it's not always about just a tracking number and insurance. It's about reliability. I hate pulling up a USPS tracking number, seeing that something is supposed to be delivered tomorrow, then not have it show up for 3 days.

It's Fedex and UPS all the way, for me. I don't care if I have to pay more... It's worth it!

I wouldnt buy or sell anything of that $$ amount -other than in person-period. Stop the madness!

USPS with insurance and tracking, sure, I'd use it, although the most expensive thing I ever shipped was worth $700.

With a valur that high, I would use "Registered Mail" via USPS. It literally gets signed by every person that touches it. May take a lil longer, but it's the safest way to ship.....period.

EDIT....just noticed your location, International shipping.....no clue how things are done over in your neck o the woods.

just curious guys... I've recently purchased an extremely expensive cue from a well known member from az...in several emails I clearly stated Express... n only dhl or FedEx ...well cue was shipped dhl parsel... lol.... can't even track it.... nobody knows where it is... not even DHL....
I ship my cases I sell all over the world via dhl express... 2-3 day delivery guaranteed.... what the hell did I get into???

Did the extremely expensive cue have any Ivory in it that may have created a customs issue?

I prefer to use UPS. Never had a problem with them in all the years I've been using them. The UPS Store is a lot quicker and more convenient than any post office I've ever been to.
