When people talk about a monster break, it suggests they have an advantage to get out more often than their opponents. I'm not knocking the player, it was just an observation that the specific break you pointed us to (which was an excellent break), Yi didn't get out from there.

And I noticed neither of you bothered to answer my question.
If the US Open is so easy to win, then why aren't those guys coming over here and robbing it, along with the BCA open/Pro Tournament/whatever it's being called these days? Plenty of them come over for both.
To hear you two tell it, their weakest players should be steam rolling over here. lol

Actually, there are a lot of people I'm sure I could add to that list, that have a good chance of winning the US Open, yourself included.
But hey...what do I know. The US Open is for chumps.
and 6 others are fan favorites but cannot resurrect performances of the past and thus have no chance.

You do realize Parica finished in like the final 6 this last year? Better than both He Wen Lin and Jung Lin Chang.
And Efren had a hell of a run in 2011 I believe.
And like I said, I didn't say they were favored to win it, but they definitely have a chance at it.

Deep run isn't winning. Parica (never has) and Efren can't win anymore. Souquet. JA and Earl I don't think can make it through the field. Busty never has but I believe still might have enough gas in the tank.

Buddy Hall, Mike Lebron both much older than Johnny and Bustamante when they won the US Open.
Willie Mosconi came out of retirement and won a major event.
None of those guys have what it takes these days to win a true world championships with a full field of the worlds best, a few of them never have. Owen? Gabe Owen? You are reaching pretty far back to grab that name, he is by no means even close to a professional pool player these days and is not a threat to win a US Open let alone a world championships.
When you say "whom typically play in the US open" you meant "whom played in the US open for their first time ever last year" for these two guys right?
So I said there were 15 players who are all legit contenders, then you game 20 names with 1 time players, players who no longer even play pro pool any more like Gabe Owen who last "played" in the US Open in 2010, guys like Dechaine and Hundal who were they to play in a World Championships be playing for a placing and have no real chance at winning the event, and guys like Orcullo, Alcano,, Corteza and a small contingent of guys who truly are beasts in the US Open and who have about 10 times as many of their beast peers in any world champiionship event, and who simply do not come out in force to the US Open.
The fields are not similar at all in strength, you were simply wrong to even suggest it, simply admit it and move on because anyone who knows pool can look at this

if you wanna watch him run out, theres a video from 2008 of ko playing dennis o. race to 15 9-ball. dennis is up 14-4, misses and never gets back to the table. its pretty ridiculous

You can speculate and make odds that the people I've listed WILL NEVER win the US Open again, but quite frankly until they retire, or die you're arguing from a point of pure speculation. Admittedly, as am I, but I think you're ignoring the facts out of personal bias.
And if you'd like to pull Gabe off the list, no problem. I'm sure I can find someone else to replace him with. Gabe's still a young guy, and if he were start playing again, I'm sure he could be competitive in no time. We'll throw Oscar on there per Chris's suggestion. Happy?

You guys just got through saying old Ralf Souquet can't win the US Open anymore (which I disagree with) and yet he just got 3rd in the World Championships last year.
And Li He Wen got 2nd in the World Championships, but finished behind Parica in the US Open.
And we can both play, they did better in this tournament and worse in that one all weekend long. And it's still probably not going to change either one of our minds.
So just call it what it is...you feel that guys like EKONOMOPOULOS Nikos, VAN DEN BERG Nick, STEPANOV Konstantin, etc. play better than the people I've listed. And that's fine, you're entitled to your opinion, but I disagree.
I'd be veeeery interested to see Shane and Ko Pin-Yi playing...
Ko is actually the first one who doesn't have the break disadvantage against Shane...
Everybody Shane played so far had a waaay weaker break than him and it's just so hard to outplay that...in my opinion Alex and Dennis are the better players but they just can't outplay Shane's break it's massive...
Ko has the best break in the world...imo even better than Shane's and it will be very interesting seeing how Shane copes with someone breaks as good as him or even slightly better...

I was practicing with KO a few years ago at the world junior champs in Willingen, germany...he ran 11 racks of 9-Ball warming up against me...he was 17 back then...also won the tournament...

No, actually "right" and "wrong" exist whether or not you are actually aware of the reality of your stance being one or the other. I don't have to make a list, these guys do it for me.

Just look at the average number of people who are in the top 100 on that list, and compare the number of those people in a US Open to the number of people in a World Championships.
Please quote where I said Ralf Souquet could not win a US Open. I never said anything of the sort and do not believe such. If you want to debate with me then stick to things I actually said instead of trying to paint someone elses words as my own.
Some of the people you listed are the top players in the world. The US Open does not nearly has as "deep" of a talent pool as a world championships but the top players in a US Open are indeed some of the top players on the planet, and I said that very clearly right from the start. Guys like SVB, Alex, Dennis, Appleton, Chang, Li and a small few others indeed play world class, they are elites in ANY event in the world. But unlike a World Championships they are not joined by Yang, Ko, Kuo, Wu, Fu, Oi, Gabica, and countless other people from China, Taiwan, the Philipines, Europe, ect... who all play phenomenal and yet who normally do not play in the US Open en masse. You always get a select few of the best players in a US Open, in a World Championships you tend to get most of the best in the world all competing in that one event at that same time.
Look at the World 9-ball Championships column on the WPA rankings and look at how many gaps there are, how many of the worlds best did "not" compete in that event. Then look at the US Open and look at how many gaps there are in that column, representing the top players in the world who did not compete in that event. If that is not enough to prove to you that one tournament has less depth in the field then the other in terms of the top talent in the world competing in those events then you are a lost cause.
