Female players

As a female player....not a big fan of playing other female players, as a rule. Most are too slow in every aspect. With some, it's like watching grass grow. There are a few players locally I have no issue with, because they play at a speed I am more used to when playing most men. OR...it could be that it's just more important in my pea brain to play well and win against a male...so I knuckle down with more focus. I just 'feel' more comfortable playing men...with no handicapping, I might add.

That's bullshit. Who told you that?

No kidding have you ever dated a women?? Yeah when a women doesn't tell you straight and tells you something else to see what you will do?? Yeah this-----> :speechless::banghead::bash::shrug:

Smaller pond, smaller "big" fish. But some of those "little" big female fish can pan fry most men. If they mixed more, I think their level of play would be on par with the men for the pros but not necessarily across all levels.

There is also a significant difference in spatial skills between a traditional female brain and a man's. It's not bigoted to ask at all, it's a valid question that gets blurred by the PC crowd. Women are also far better at communication than men.

Thanks :) That was pretty much what i meant, you just worded it a million times better...

I know when ever I play a master level player (BCA) they compare pretty close to an (A) male player.
Don't really get that chane to play higher level than that. Something of the pro level.
I bet they would be a handful with or without a shot clock.
I don't think it is fair to pass any judgement by seeing this match or that match.
And if you don't like to watch them... Then don't.
Simple as that.

but I'm a firm believer that playing "better" players will not improve your game.

Just wanted to answer on this although it has nothing to do with the title...

playing aginst better players is the thing that improves your game the MOST by far....you are very wrong with that statement buddy...

no top U.S women professionals.

This is true but I do believe there are many female "A" players from the U.S.

Are there any pro females in this country who do not have to work full time or at least part time?

On the amateur level the ladies seam to focus more on leagues and womens regional tours.I have met 1 or 2 female pool rats but women never seam to become so obsessed with the game that they forsake job family and friends to practice/play 12 hours a day.

Who do you guys think is the best U.S woman player?

... I saw her first match against Andoni (watching both streams, but more interested in the men's). It was too slow to hold any interest.

12 games in 2 hours and 33 minutes = average of 12 3/4 min. per game!

Hi I`ve been watching quite a few matches with female players now and without being a biggot i must say that the level of play is quite unimpressive and it`s is so slow compared to the male players. Mika has run a hundred balls before two girls can finish a set of 10 balls.
I am of the opinion that there should be no male and female divinsions in pool as i don`t see that one gender has a edge over the other. And I`m simply wondering if the level is so low for the female players due to the fact that pool traditionally isn`t a womans sport and since the divisions is gender spesific the female players never get to play with the top guys and therefore the progression is so bad??

you should have seen it back before the cloth got fast, brutal. there were a few good girls but not like these days(its better now than ever). no disrespect to them-i cant figure out why the men seem to play better,

It's not logical or fair to extrapolate from one or two examples to all women players. There are slow male players as well.

If you want speed, go to Youtube and watch "Speed Pool".

Also, don't judge all women's skills by the current level of play among American pros. When and where the top players are performing is rather cyclical. Plus, the rest of the world is catching and surpassing Americans in many sports. Granted, this is hard to swallow for folks who think America is always # 1 and it must be so...

Not my first match to watch. I know there are some women that can flat out play, but the majority of women that play in tournaments can't play my speed and I'm almost 60.

there's a gap in skill level sure but there are amazingly strong female players. i saw a chinese female player put a 6 pack together. i think they just need to get the recognition and support that they deserve but don't get because they're women.

there are women out there like Jean Balukas and Jasmin Ouschan that don't get the support and or freedom they deserve. I hear Jasmin O. got punished because she chose to play in a non WPBA event. women players should be encouraged to play in mens events. they should be encouraged to nut up not punished for stepping up. honestly what kind of lesson is that teaching young girls that want to play great pool?

Jean is amazing, no one compares IMO

why men and women play different is anyones guess. they just do. no big deal.

i think it's because men have more testosterone which tends to make us more competitive and aggressive. there are def women out there that can hang with the big boys though. the thing is giving those women the chance

Since time began it has been mans function to compete for food with the females nursing the kids. Even though billiards does not require great strength, and even though I agree with you that women should not have their own league to run back to when things get too dicey on a level playing field, I also feel it will never happen for the simple reason that women don't want it to happen. It seems to be me that women want to be in the arena, but not down on the floor with the men. They clamor to compete with men while at the same time keeping their own league to run back too when things get tough. I believe there are some really good female players out there who on a good day could beat a top male player. But, can they do it on consistent enough basis that would allow them to compete against the best players in the world regardless of gender, and not using their own gender in some way to make cash outside of the game itself? I don't think so. There are male players who have to hustle for a living while women play in their own leagues and are called the greatest players on earth by tv commentators. It's not fair but it's not going to change because the best women want to play with the men, but not on a consistent and genuine basis, only when the mood strkes, while at the same time mainatining their own leagues for picking up some easy money playing against lesser competition. I don't mind, I understand - I'd just like to hear one of them come out and admit it.

Those 3 can play with the men. But can they win enough tournament money to make their way through life without having to hustle something on the side? I don't think so. By the way, you're right - those 3 were champion snooker players - female champion snooker players. Those 3 and a few others are impressive, but the field they play against has a large gap between the top players and the runner-ups who get a lot of tv time regardless. This male/female debate has been going on since I was a kid. I have no problem with women playing men. In golf it's the same thing - the PGA is not a male association, it's a golf association open to all. Same with billiards. I don't mind the women playing in PGA tournaments, I just don't like that after they lose (if they lose), they can run back to the all female league to pick up easy money. I believe the female snooker players dominate woman's billiards because they played snooker without imitating the male style. I notice with lots of American women, they like to emulate the stroke of the top male players. Those are the runner ups. The ex snooker players don't care about how they look, they play to win. That's the impression I get. I also think Corr is the best of the lot because when she came along there was a hair more competition in the woman's league than there was when Allison Fisher was feasting on Jeanette Lee and other women who would have trouble against tons of totally unknown male B players across the country. Men don't hesitate to give women credit for the things they do well. I don't get why women and their phony supporters (yes, most men who support women out loud may feel otherwise in private - my definition of a phony), can't just admit that maybe men simply have a greater capacity at certain things.

What makes you think that?....just because they talk more?

I posted it earlier. I have to play summer A tonight but maybe tomorrow I'll see if I can find a video on my home server about it. We used to pass a VHS tape about this around on RSB.
