We are looking into starting The Delmarva Barbox Tour and this tour is amateurs only. The tour is hoping to expand all over Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. This is a thread to try to see how much interest there would be with our local players, so please respond to the post with all questions, concerns and praises. If you are a establishment with a minimum of 5 barboxes and are interested in hosting a monthly event please let us know. Thank you for reading this and as always may your stroke be steady and your eyes be true!

Northern VA does not like bar boxes...in fact, there are only 2 places I can think of within 50mi of DC that have enough of em to have an event:
Fast Eddie's Alexandria: https://foursquare.com/v/fast-eddies/4b47ba0ff964a5201d3c26e3
Crystal City Sports Pub: http://www.ccsportspub.com/

Good luck!

Yet VA has produced some great barbox players Matt Clatterbuck Brandon Shuff Larry Kressel. Chris Loar. Danny Masterbaker Mike Painter Chris Brunner Dave Hunt just to name a few in fact Chris Brunner Larry Kressel and Dave Hunts. APA masters team won the Nationals a couple yrs ago and was 2nd or 3rd last yr
But yes venues with 5 tables are hard to come by
Maryland has 3 off the top if my head Great Slates , Bank Shots SportsRoom 2000 and maybe Top Hat

I hope this goes off
Good Luck

Yeah I play with those guys on the APT Tour excellent shooters. I appreciate the input and will be in contact with the pool halls. Spread the word!

I only know of one place in Northern Delaware that has that many tables...Pockets at Rt 13 & 40. IMO very few players from this area would travel to play in a tournament circuit; too expensive and not enough prize money in most cases. Plus who wants to go up against the likes of players you mentioned gets old getting your azz handed to you all the time:o

Most of those guys are considered pro level and this is an amateur tour. do you think players would travel downstate to georgetown or millsboro?

Maybe, there's an APA Masters League out of Pockets on Sunday mornings; some of those players come up from below the canal. Some pretty decent players in this league and they do like to gamble some. The local tournament events do have a draw. So, my guess would be you'd get a few of them as long as the likes of Brothers and Krah are kept out. I'm kinda out of the loop right now as I quit playing in March, but if you give me some info, I'll pass it by some people I know and get their input. I played leagues in this area for eight years and am just taking a break for now. Might take me a week or two to get back to you.

sounds scary.

Not sure if this will be handicap or not yet depends on what the majority of the players want. If anything just the pay scale will be handicapped, but same race for everybody. We want to make this as competitive as possible, so everybody has a chance of getting in the money.

Only 1 on that list is considered Pro most of the rest are league eligible if you lower the standard to winners of regional events in the last yr you can take off a few more

Finley's in seven vallys pa about 30 min from 695 had a excellent Amateur event there run by Rick Miller Also Curtis Branker is they guy to get the word out his mailing list is second to none and he also can offer some input if you seek it he puts on great turnys also

Roanoke VA

SWVa has barboxes all over the place. "Bull and bones" in Blacksburg has at least 5 Diamond barboxes and "Charbel's" in Salem has five bar boxes. You would have a good turn out down here. Avoid Breaktime billiards and saloon. That place is all kinds of crooked

Not the best of it just not afraid of good competition. I like it more if I win a tourney because I beat great players instead of winning them because great players can't play. I'm by far not on the level of even any of the others mentioned but know the game well enough to get by when I need to.

Great, I really appreciate the input and info you guys are giving me. Keep it coming and please spread the word that we are really pushing for this tour to happen we just need the support of our fellow pool players

I've gone down to Cambridge to play at Great Slates, Been to Fast Eddies in Alexandria, Theres another place in Laurel MD that has 17 or so diamond boxes.
Living in the center of DE (right outside Dover) 2hrs is the max I'd be willing to drive to play. I know several players in lower DE that would play. I'd probably be able to bring 3 or 4 with me every time if it isn't prohibitively priced to get in.

I personally don't have any issues with higher entry fees if I feel like it's a field I can compete in, but a lot of delawarians are tight and would balk at fees much higher than$20.

Entry

Ideally it's tough for the money to be right with only a 20 dollar entry. It's got to be good for everyone. Would these be one day or two day tourneys? If one day sat. Or sun.? Personal preference it's nice to have on sat. that way you don't have to worry about what time it's over. Awfully tough to play late sun. And go to work on Monday. What format would these tourneys be game, races, etc?
