Bogus Ball..from the start

Well if I still had my old magazines I would find the quotes. Anyway it doesn't matter because nothing is going to change.

Maybe you can have your wall street contacts save pool. After all you are a big deal on Wall Street aren't you?

My girlfriend likes to watch Shark Week, Star Trek and the Food Network. Maybe you can get some supermarket chains to pitch in so she can make a living at it.

See how that works? If something doesn't turn a profit, it doesn't get investments. Mull that over for a bit.

You could always give her $25 from each case sold.

If pool drew a 1.2, ESPN would be airing billiards events on a regular basis. For the past several years, pool has averaged a rating of around 0.2. The highest Nielsen number I've seen in the time I've worked in this business (about 9 years) was 0.64 that happened during the 2006 EnjoyPool.com 9 Ball Championships and even back then, the benchmark was a 0.2.

(Edited to add the BCA press release link)

Mea culpa. I might have remembered the figure incorrectly, but you and I are on the same page. The ratings are dismal. Consistent, steady, but...dismal.

Guessing that means that you can't save pool. Bummer, they were really counting on your access to billions.

He's right, you're acting like a crybaby for pool players. Now all you're doing is completely ignoring the fact that a large majority don't contribute jack and they don't do anything to help their situation. Give them your money and go back to selling CTE.

The reason is because the players are doing all their complaining in private. If they dare make a complaint public they risk being ostracized by the entire group.

This is reminding me a lot of the Branch Davidians.

wow, the only guys i have heard complaining are MD and SVB, who dont play BB.

The Branch Davidians<-----LOL watched that little Janet Reno move live.....Pros are smarter than those people were.

What?

I don't care about professional pool players. I care about pool getting bigger so I can sell more cases and pool-related stuff.

Really? Gee I seem to read about businesses with NO PROFIT getting funded (that's another word for invested in) every day. Wall Street can help you with that.

You seem really upset. All because of a quarter?

A nonexistent quarter at that.

Eric,

I know you have followed what happened to one employee......sorry, contractor who spoke up about not being paid. They are now the outcast who is the "reason Bonus Ball is failing" and the "reason they aren't getting paid", according to some of the other players.

If the checks clear and the back pay has been paid, It still appears to have many of the same characteristics of a cult like following.

Why would anyone, players or other staff, ostracize someone for speaking up about not getting paid for work? What kind of threats have been made to keep those involved quiet? Why would a group who has been extremely vocal regarding being paid now be silent? Not only are they silent but they have condemned a fellow contractor who did speak up.

Something just doesn't add up with all this craziness. I am looking forward to the "hindsight" on this one.

So, you want a quarter million from league players to go to pro players so that you can maybe sell another hundred cases? :thud:

You've completely missed the fact that pool has gotten bigger. It just has almost nothing to do with the pro players, that's all. If the pros want to make money themselves, they have to turn into viable products. They have yet to do that as a group.

I am too, but think it is going to be another story of an oversold idea and a bunch of people hoping things will work 'this time'.

Yeah, that's all I want is to sell another hundred cases. I guess the idea that that maybe a couple hundred thousand or maybe a few million more people might take up playing pool seriously isn't even a thought.

Pool leagues are doing just fine.

The rest is up to the pros. How's that been going? Yeah, real solid history with that one, right?

You keep saying people should be swindled to pay for pros who do next to nothing to help the sport. So, in response, I'm telling you to take $25 out of each case and pay them yourself. You obviously aren't big on that idea. Just imagine how popular your brand would be with players if you had the JB Cases Tour.

We all value your opinion, however........

I have to ask... if they're doing "all" their complaining in private, then how do you know?

Comparing Branch Davidians to Bonus Ball Pros.....really?

Swindled?

Do you feel swindled when the APA sponsors the WPBA? Do you feel swindled when CSI puts on a pro event? Do you swindled when your local room owner kicks in some money to bring in a pro for and exhibition?

I'd happily pay $25 from every $500 case towards a tour if it meant that we could bring another couple hundred thousand players into the game. In fact I have kicked in plenty to the game, from amateur events up to the pros. Anyway, discussing this with some anonymous person who isn't ever going to make a difference isn't productive.

I respect your opinion. Hope you hit them good and have fine when you play.

I promise that I will never take a quarter from you.

Might have been the way he said it that got him in hot water. But it is unrealistic to expect to get paid for working, I mean that's just crazy talk.

I'd happily pay a quarter to have something worthwhile. But, to have a bunch of primadonnas that don't do squat for the sport.. ha! I'll pay for what's worth paying for.. and it isn't that. As for the WPBA - have you seen them at their events? They.. get this.. interact with people.

Let me rephrase my opinion..

They aren't worth it.

Edit: As for anonymity, I've posted my name on here before. We can discuss who has made a bigger difference. What have you done to get people into the game?

I am sure that you have done way more. I concede.

Definitely. Because you know that in my spare time after my 40 hour job, all I want to do is support a bunch of overgrown kids that don't do anything to help their cause. I'm glad that you're able to find a way to help them through my pockets. I really appreciate it.

By the way, how much are your dues? Oh, that's right, you don't play league.

Maybe you can build a cheaper knock-off version of APA in China and pay them that way.

Hi Banks,

I'm with you. 50 "Pro's" or 500,000 amateurs. The game IS growing. Just not the way some people want it to. Even if we had a full fledged pro tour, the impact of APA, BCAPL, ACS, VNEA and others would still be greater. It's the grass roots stupid!

As a sidelight, tell Luke I need serious weight for our next match-up :p . He's too good! Actually, give him a big thumbs up from me. Job well done.
