Janet Atwell, WPBA touring pro, has been diagnosed with breast cancer in the last few weeks. As many of you know, Janet is a great lady and good friend to many of us. She has had surgery, and medical bills are mounting.

On August 17-18, some of her WPBA friends are putting together a benefit tournament for her at Borderline Billiards in Bristol, TN. Mini tournament on Friday night as well.

There is also a website where you can make a donation if you can't make the tourney.

Please keep Janet in your thoughts and prayers.

I have to be honest I don't really follow the ladies tour and don't know this lady. I just walked in from meeting with my mechanic. Turns out the $390.00 repair job will be more like $1500.00. I was pretty annoyed till I opened this post. Kind of puts life in perspective. I find myself moved to donate to this person who I don't know. We often don't give because it is all too overwhelming, so much need in this world and we can't seem to make any difference.

No you can't say yes to everyone it is just not possible and if it is not someone you know personally you tend to tune them out. There is nothing wrong with that, nothing to feel guilty about. You can say yes to a few though and at least for them you can make a difference. I am going to say yes to this lady who I don't even know. I guess they caught me at the right time, I hope others will say yes as well. Be it $5.00 of $500.00 you will feel good I can promise you.

This years at the Smoky Mountain Shootout, I had my whole family with me. My daughter who is 20 years old has not picked up a cue in 8 years was so impressed with Janet that it inspired her to play again. She sat and watched Janet play her matches right until the end of her tournament . I wish her only the best and pray for her speedy recovery
She is a great player and an inspiration to others

Thank you so much for posting this! I've been posting it like crazy on Facebook, messaging people and calling vendors trying to spread the word. Anyone that can help spread the word, get vendors to donate product or donate $ to the cause is greatly appreciated. She does not have health insurance, so it is all out of pocket for her.

Thank you,
Dawn Fox

Thank you Dawn. I just took the liberty of sticking your stuff on here!!!

Best of luck w/Janet's fight!

Sorry to hear this news. My thoughts and prayers go out to Janet. I'll make a donation soon or I'll do it at the benefit tournament.

Is this benefit tournament open to men and women? It is a handicapped event and I was assuming it's open to all. Could someone answer this question please? I may head up that way either way to support a good cause.

Get well soon Janet, Jerry
