Where to play in LA

lol. Never said anyone was scared. I have seen some nice cue sticks there.

You obviously want to make this into something it's not.

It’s a nice room with nice people.

And oh yes. And they make a great BLT there :-)

Glad you enjoyed the pork. I knew you would.

I actually didn't have any. I was just repeating the rave reviews of a couple of your players.

Hey! I got an idea: I have absolutely no idea of how you play, but obviously you're very much into 1pocket, and I'm willing to take my chances. How about you and I play some 1pocket for a couple of bucks next time?

Of course.
Even though I told you not to come back and right now I don't think highly of you and despise you really. Im willing to put that all aside.and start anew. I might end up liking you.
I don't play good. I wouldn't even consider myself a C player. I am 66 and had 2 cataract surgeries and one for retinal reattachment but I will play anyone once even.
But can we play a set as I might not want to be stuck in a game with a person that I clash with personally.
Also know that I have a family and am raising a 4 year old and they come first. So you must schedule with me.
Look forward to it
Keone Young

By the way there are others in the room that would like to play you as well.

I didn't ask for your age, medical history, family situation, or skill level.

I said I was willing to take my chances and asked if you wanted to play pool.

Glad to hear you'll play. Good man.

Well whenever I meet someone personally via internet I like to know as much as possible. You never know what shows up.

Hi Vicki
Ill play John 2 $100 set race to 3 in one pocket even or take a straight pool lesson for $100 an hour.
That is if he doesn't mind playing with a 66 year old with eye issues and a loving family

hmmmm

are you near Victorville ??? if so call and make arrangements with me, john is out of town right now. pool room # 760 951 2800 im sure john would play !!!

I have only the utmost respect for him and would be honored.
However Victorville is too far right now. But if we happen to be in the same vicinity.
Thanks
Keone

Sorry didn't mean to barge in on your action Lou

LOL!! Should be great fun. I like to welcome anyone to HOB in Santa Monica where anyone can get a game. Anyone who says they cant isn't trying hard enough. Anyone who blames the room has to look into his/her heart for the cause. .If someone as bad as me will give you a game you know many others will.

PS Its funny you posted the pic of Grumpy Old Men. My buddy Howard Deutsch directed that film and I just finished working with him in several episodes of True Blood.
Matthau was a great guy.

Hey I want billing over Lou. Even though Lou has more notoriety amongst the pool set the letter K precedes the letter L. Youll be hearing from my agents
Thank you

Never met him, I don't think. I just finished a million dollar check run.. wanna trade? Seriously, A/P is more exciting than it sounds.

Fine, fine, fine.. as long as I don't get it from Lou's lawyers, too.

I just wish I had begun seriously playing when I was still down that way. If I make my way back to the beach area on vacation, I'll try to stop by and see if I can squeeze a game out of somebody there. I'm an A in Oregon, so put me down as a C in Cali. Isn't table time like $15-20/hr in LA? I'll have to start saving up. :o

No one *blamed* anyone -- they just related their personal experiences.

Lou Figueroa
looks like the
21st visit
will be the charm

Oh come on Lou. At least be honest. First you chimed in supporting a very negative post about us. How everyone was "scared to death" to play anyone they didn't know. You said

"They always want to make a call and send in Richie or Wayne, but *no one* else will play.* I see the same guys every visit and I never get a game."

For one we don't need Rich or Wayne to stand up for ourselves. We are men.

Then you said
"In several visits I have never seen Wayne there"
Then Wayne said "I was there" as another have stated when you were on the back tables.. He said he would have played you if you were looking for a game. But I guess you got a little amnesia on that day

You also said
"And for the record: I have gambled with pros; shortstops, and guys like me"
And now you say "As I told another pro here: my Mama taught me not to try and match up with pro players ;-)" When JS is mentioned.

Just what side of the mouth are you talking from.

I guess the final bit that preturbs me is
"Bottom line: always lots of guys in the room with expensive sticks but no play-ee in 20 visits :-) "
Implying we are all show and no blow. Which is BS since we gave you evidence that many Azers like Henderson and the Ghost came and happily got action.

So just stop trying to be the victim of misunderstanding here.
You cast aspersions and now you don't want to take responsiblity for it.
So at least be honest.

PS I play with a $100 Sneaky Pete.

Stating the facts is not casting aspersions.

I started out in this thread just to stick up for Jim, saying that my experience in SM was very similar to his. And, what I wrote about -- no one wanting to play, and the calls to Wayne or Richie -- is exactly what happened. I didn’t make that up.

Wayne said he saw me there once. At first I didn’t recall seeing him, but them queried him if the time he saw me there was when he was playing someone else. He hasn't answered, so he might have been there *one time* but was engaged with someone else anyway.

As to pros: I should not have said I’ve “gambled” with pros. What I should have said is that I have “donated” to pros when traveling, just for the experience -- usually guys I consider legends, like Steve Cook, Johnny Ervolino, or Grady. I’ve also "donated" to guys like Ike just to learn sumthin’, or played the top player in a room, like Jason Miller, because that's what I do when traveling, or played guys like Gus when he has popped up at my room.

The reality remains that I’ve been in your room *almost two dozen times,* have been willing to play anyone there, and have not gotten played. That is fact and you and everyone else can draw their conclusions -- I have not done that job for you, dispite your looney accusations about "aspersions."

The fact also is that I’ve have gotten played, on far, far fewer visits, in rooms in almost every part of the country besides SM. People can draw their conclusions about that too. And that’s the honest truth whether you like it or not, or even if it disturbs you considerably, or you think someone telling the truth is casting an "aspersion."

So now let me ask you: What are your bona fides -- what pool rooms have you traveled to get into action? Who and where have you matched up with and played? Do you even know what it's like to walk into a strange room and try to get action? Or are you just a professional viewer who likes to squawk from the rail?

Book a training session at Crown City Billiards!

When coming to LA, there is little you can do better than booking a training session with me at Crown City Billiards in Pasadena.

Me Im nobody. I am a guy who loves the game. I also like my home room and enjoy the people there no matter what persuasion they are. Even the guys who I have beefs with I respect. But I like most of all the terrible players who try hard every day to improve their game.

Im not going to talk about myself. I don't need to. You can google me if you like. Keone Young. Or ask my friend Danny Diliberto. You saw my post to John Schmidts friend. I too donate. But I don't need to blah blah about myself. I don't need to feel I am better than the next guy.

I understand. Sometimes we don't mean to say or write about ourselves and the things we say. Expanding truths to get our point across. Ive done it. So thank you for explaining what you should have said instead of what you did..

Most of all I want to thank you Lou. Because over these past few days you have inspired me. Yes at this later stage in life I have become lazy and lethargic in my playing habits. I lost that passion I once had. But now you and the Pilot have really inspired me to play better and get back to where I once was. I truly thank you. Like my little boy who inspires me everyday to become a better person you have inspired me as well. As I try to rise above pomposity and verbosity and untruths I will remind myself of those faults.

So to you and Pilot guy I apologize. I don't want you to feel unwelcome to our wonderful room. Please come and feel free to express yourselves and be yourselves.. Pilot guy I know you play much better than me but I will play you a couple of sets.
I await your presence.
