If given a chance to watch a good tv pool production, who will watch?

I think it could draw, enough to make $'s work. Who's going to find the formula?

pool teams in some form will be the future of pool on TV IMO.

thats my guess, nobody told me anything-just what i have concluded after the past year of thinking/watching pool. im board watching 1 on 1 matches,

you wrote this on Friday, after reading all of Mark's "chili" posts, didn't you?

Mosconi 2011, was my 1st professional forum. hopped that plane @ 8 hrs notice. what a BLAST! everyone in that room (including Mikaela @ times) was INVOLVED & cheering.

since then, i've been to all Vegas CSI events. watched countless PPVs. never could get BBall to thread & then GOBd.

Mosconi has ruined me for all pool productions.

Matchroom has the formula, they just dont sell it here. Like lots of sport, there is no American distribution.:(

That begs the question - if Matchroom can sell it there, why aren't they selling it here? (A much bigger market potentially)

I'm not aware of MR's target. As a dumbass US consumer, I'd guess MR sells mostly to the UK. Darts, pool, soccer, poker, - heck cornhole for all I know.

We need a new network, ESPN, and Fox suck!!!! especially ESPN, I'm watching a movie now and dont feel like ranting on about why ESPN blows, i will later-dont worry about that.

I thought there recently was a reality tv producer making something for cable, yes?

I like the BB team format. Just ditch the game, and replace it with 8 ball played on 10' tables. Now I know a lot of people don't love the 10' table idea, but I think it would work well with a professional league.

In at least 2 of the major sports (NBA and NFL, not sure about MLB or NHL), there are several differences between the play at the collegiate level vs. the majors.

To start there could be 8 teams with 4 players per team plus alternates. Skip the internet stream, and go straight to TV. Think small at first, don't go directly to the big cable networks. If the league has any success after the first year or two, then you could think about adding a few expansion teams.

All that aside, I think the real key is getting kids and amateurs involved. High school billiard teams would be a good start. Then get colleges involved, and offer scholarships.
