jackson cue

I need some info if someone can help me out. I got this cue from a guy in a pool game he told me he got it along time ago for $600. I got it for around $150. I like some info and did I get took on it. sorry the pic are not so good thanks

A plain Jane like that should never have sold for more than $400. $150 was a decent price for the cue.

Jackson cues are great playing and looking cues, I think you did very well.

I think you did great for 150.00. It's not technically a plain jane judging by the butt, but tough to tell with those pictures. Is that a solid SS joint?

I think most cuemakers would be in the 400-600 range on something like this if you were to have it built new.

and its in great shape too. how can you tell if the butt is ivory or not. it looks like it has a grain to it

Grain is one indication but maybe someone can chime in with a more sure fire way of telling. Regardless, you got what appears to be a great cue at a great price.

As long as you like how it plays you made out like a champ.

I would be surprised if it has a full ivory buttcap. I've seen quite a few Jackson cues for sale with ivory inlays and none of them had an ivory buttcap.

I got a email from Jackson cue and they did not tell me much about the cue just that it sold from them for $550 lol I just sent back asking what year was it made.

I need to know a sure way of checking to see if its has a ivory butt.

To test the butt to see if it's ivory, remove the bumper and heat a straight pin up red hot. Touch a hidden part of the butt cap under where the bumper would be. If it melts, it's plastic, if it singes and smells like burned hair, it's ivory.

Another way of getting a good idea whether it's the real deal without the pin test, is to feel if the butt cap is colder than a piece of plastic sitting in the same vicinity. If so, there's a good chance it is ivory...

Jackson used to work with Nubs Wagner (Nova Cues). Their cues are very playable. Good buy!

the butt cap is not ivory but is made to look like it. lol and its about 6 years old or older and they did not have model numbers back then. so im going to use it and get my money out of it...lol thanks everyone for your time and info.
