My GC5 is a Tournament edition. I think
the only difference between a Tournament
Edition and a standard GC5 is that the pockets
are shimmed. My cloth is tearing at the point of
greatest contact with balls on the shims. In other
words, the point at which one would expect to see
the most wear in the jaws of the pocket is in fact
wearing out much faster than the rest of the cloth.
Is this common in GC5s? Maybe it is due to the shims.
I was thinking about gluing an extra layer of 860 on
top of the shims before recovering the rails in hopes
of extending the life of the cloth in this high contact
area. I understand it will reduce pocket size slightly
but will not change any angles.
What do you think?
Thanks
Joe
