Image resizer???

You would think this feature would be a standard part of the forum software, but I guess not.
I gotta believe there is some kind of plug-in that would accomplish this.
That being said ... I do have a very good option for computer challenged members who would take a second to take advantage of it and make the threads more readable for all of us.
This is a Microsoft Power Toy plug in for all of us users. It runs on XP so although I have never tried it on newer operating systems, I'm sure it would work.
Here is the link to download it. It is SIMPLE> once you download and install the program it becomes a part of your "right click" choices when you click on any photo file.
It is already ticked off in the program to resize to 640x480 so there is NOTHING else to do but click yes, and its done. You will NOT loose the original HD photo, another will be created in the same folder.
Then, when you choose your files to download to the forum ... just choose the newly resized one.
Nothing to learn, nothing to ponder, just one simple right click.

I suggest that if there is no other option for the forum to add an auto feature ... this be made a sticky.

Super annoying.
There's a workaround for firefox or chrome.
You can install the "Stylish" extension, which lets you control how websites appear on your end
(but doesn't affect the site on AZ's end).
Stylish for Firefox --> click here.
Stylish for Chrome --> click here.
Once you install it, you can copy and paste a single line of code
that will force oversize images to shrink to any size you want
(in this case 800 pixels wide):
img { max-width: 800px !important; }
This is the result... image shrunk to 800 pixels, and notice the text below wraps around
instead of scrolling off to the right.
It's also very handy for changing other aspects of a site that annoy you.
For example changing the font size or color, background color, and so on.
If anyone wants more detailed directions I'll post 'em.

Just go into your control panel settings and uncheck the box that says to display images. Then you will just see a link to the picture in a thread instead of the actual picture that you can click if you do want to see it.
You never cease to amaze me, Sean. You're posting on AZB while on a conference call? I can't even drive and listen to the radio at the same time!
I do hope you can find a solution to this little problem, though. It's been a pesky bother for a long time.

Ok, ok, some "pat head, rub belly" sarcasm was in order there.
Seriously, though, firing off a couple sentence post to AZB in between speakers on a conf. call is no biggie. Doing research is another matter.
Anyway, I think CreeDo and RRfireblade already nailed it above, as far as what can be done on the user side to help with the situation (those two approaches above are not perfect, but from a user's perspective, is probably as good as it gets). Having the server side take care of this is another matter -- that might require a plugin to vBulletin or something.
Busy Monday morning, but will check on that when I can.

Thanks everyone. The point of this was to not have to scroll sideways. I appreciate the suggestions of using plug-ins to modify the browser output.
The larger point was that if there is a VBulletin extension that does it for all users then we don't have to use those measures.
