Slide out of work a little early and meet my friend at the pool hall.It"s weds. so we
pretty much have the place to ourselves till 5pm.We always play 10 a game 1hole.
I give him 8/7, It is a ongoing friendly game.
The table we play on is a triple shimmed gold crown. It always rolls to the bottom
right corner pocket,so we always break to that side.Left side rolls away from the rail.
Table really plays pretty good it is just the slow rolls of1 pocket that "accent" the value
of playing to the right pocket.
He has been at the place for a hour already so I tell him go ahead and break while I
get my lumber out.He breaks from the right side and says he is going to break from
that side all day and see if he plays better! I thought it was strange but started playing.
Well after he tortured me for 2 hours,never winning a game, I try to cut a ball frozen to
the end cushion easy towards my hole. I missed hitting the object ball by 1/2 ball
and sold out the game.
I shot the cb up and down the table,easy like,and discovered a horrible roll opposite
of what the table historically played like.I accused him of messing with the table.He
started to laugh,spitting up his beer,and said hey it is weds. and they level the tables
on weds. I said this is not level!
He can hardly contain himself as he tells me that he was *****ing at the table mechanic about the "historical"roll to the right.The mechanic told him he could not
make the table roll true as the slate is warped.So my friend's request was make it
roll the other way for a while and it might even things out!:grin:
