Is there cheap black k55 out there?

Or does it being black indicate that it's black diamond?

I'm trying to decide what to do with my 9' red label diamond pro table made in 2001. The person I bought it from told me he had the rubber replaced last year but didn't know what kind it was. He said it played good but I have no idea what kind of player he is. I bought it disassembled. The cloth is almost new but I peeled it back to see what was under there and it's what looks like brand new black rubber. Very nicely installed I might add. I'm trying to decide whether to set it up as is, modify it from here or get rid of it. I sold my GC3 so I'm going to have to do something soon or god forbid be without a table. I clamped one of the end rails down inside of the long rail on my GC to see how the rubber seems and it doesn't seem to bank short and feels ok. I know that's kind of a funky test but it's all I could think of short of setting up the table.

Advice or input welcome.

Thanks,

JC

I'm up here in WA if you want some work done on that Diamond, or you could always do it yourself if you want.

Glen

If you cut over from i5 at some point and drive down the coast Coos Bay will be right on the way to California with only a minor detour.

JC

772 miles round trip is not good, unless I'm on the way to Cali. If you want the rails recalibrated sooner, you could always bring them up to me at my shop here, and I could do the work here, install the cushions and facings and turn you around the same day, if I got started early enough in the morning on the day you arrived.

Glen

PS. I'm in Kent, WA.

Ok so of course the logistics are unworkable. Somehow I suspected as much but thanks anyway Glen.

Does anyone besides Glen have an answer to the question I asked in my post about black rubber?

Does China make a version of it that you're aware of?

Thanks,

JC

I don't understand, your looking for cushions that are under $55 for a set, because that's to high priced...and you want to put them on a Diamond 9ft Professional?

They sell black cushions in k55 and k66. Donny Wessels is involved with this company I believe.

Thanks for the info. As I said in my original post I am trying to decide whether to set this table up as is and give it a go or to spend some money preemptively.

I am not obsessed with saving a buck but also not interested in wasting my money needlessly. Good information can lead to informed decisions most of the time. Of course informed decisions can turn out wrong:smile:

I hear that:thumbup:

better off to spend the money, my diamond cushions were like $100 there are black. anything cheaper scares me, no rationale for the fear but part of me says if I am gonna spend a little I might as well have some piece of mind. If I bought $40 cushions I wouldn't have any faith in them and any issues I ever had with the table would always go right back to the decision to save $50. Not worth it. Of course this is coming from the guy who is gonna put K55 on his GC3 un-calibrated rails just to see if all the hype is true or not. I'll find out and post my findings in a few weeks. It may cost me more in the long run but I gotta find out for myself. I do hope you find a cheapo cushion and put them on then play on that table for years with no issues. That'll save me some money down the road.

Best cushion for the dollar are the MBS cushions. Play true and last forever. Under $60.00 retail.
