I finally broke the spell

I figure I'll post it here so everyone can have a laugh on me. Today I had my first 8 ball run out. The guy I was playing bounced the cue ball of the table and I ran out. It only took me a year of serious 8 ball playing. I just could not get past the 6 or 7th ball for nothing. Today must have been my day

Next goal is to get past 13 balls in 14.1. 2 years trying on that.

Congratulations! That's one of many to come.Work hard on your fundamentals, and the rest will come much easier.

Good job, except when he knocked the 8 off the table, you already won the game :wink:

A bit like getting all the lottery numbers right, but a day late.

I meant to say he knocked the cue ball off the table (senior moment):embarrassed2:

That makes more sense hehe.

I actually don't remember my first run out in any pool game, hope you don't forget like I did. I do remember my high run in 14.1 only because it happened a few months ago when I was just hitting balls while waiting for my son to get done with his league matches.

I think I remember more of my failed runs than the good ones because it's very often really silly mistakes that cause me not to run out. And I tell myself, don't do that again. But I do.

Congrats on the run-out!

I know the feeling; I achieved my first 8-ball run-out about a year ago. But the table was a fluke with every ball either near a pocket or just a simple shot for position on the next ball. Wish they could all be that way.

Here's to many more

Thanks, What made it better was the fact that I was playing an APA 7 and he was kicking my butt , I knew if I made one mistake and game over. After that I beat him a couple more times, It wound up being like his 7 to my 3 .

nice job, that's the best feeling. You'll remember the out for years to come.

Thanks CreeDo

Congrats and no it's nothing to make fun of. Getting a run out can be a big hump to get over. The next hump is to get over the nerves of doing it again where the first ball feels like the last ball and vice versa.

It took me a while to get where after I broke and thought *I got this* and low and behold I did. Being at the table and feeling like you belong at that table can be an extremely powerful thing for your game.

Thanks gunzby. I was getting a little crazy over waiting for the first one. Like what the heck is wrong with me .

Congrats!!! Nice work. Now that you have gotten that obstacle out of the way, hopefully you'll begin to have many more in your future at the tables. Good luck with the 14.1... it too will get there with time.
The key for me was learning how to forget about the ball that I just made... a second or 2 before it ever left the table. One shot at a time, and sometimes after it's over you realize... you just ran the table.

8 ball can be a hard game to run with 7 other balls blocking your path. Cheers on your run. Don't it feel good?

Thanks. I appreciate the help.

Cool, the next dozen or so will be a blast too! Also really cool that you're playing 14:1 which will really help your 8-ball game, seeing run patterns, breaking out balls, controlling whitey, carrying stress for a while, etc. Enjoy! :D
