SVB vs the field, who ya got?

you have 1000geeses on your pond, you must bet all your geeses on either SVB or the field. 32 players left.

who would you take? i'm taking SVB. his path seems pretty simple at this point. i think the one guy that can give him the most trouble has to win like 8 matches in a row from the losers side, immonen.

wow, really? i mean you would know way better than me. its just seems too easy at this point. he doesn't have to beat 'em all, just 4 of them and maybe the same guy twice. would you consider him the favorite or someone else?
 
suggesting versus the field is something different than choosing a different individu

Just think you must be meaning that you would choose Shane right now over any other individual in the field.

At best the odds would be 4 to 1 against Shane winning against the field right now, although I would pick Shane over any other individual myself right now.

I still wouldn't bet even money he wins it from here.

no i mean, i'd take SVB over the entire field. i was just asking bartram who he thinks is the favorite because that would be pretty interesting as he knows how these guys play and maybe who has the hot hand this week.

I would have to say that a fool and his money are soon parted. You would be foolish to bet 1000 even money on Shane here against the field even on the money. It doesn't matter how much you like Shane from here.

I would need 4 to 1 to even consider it and Shane been my favorite to win from the beginning.

Mika has won US open before from loosers side in a similar fashion after he lost his first match. He might do it again.

there is no doubt but he only has 1 bullet left and shane has 2. immonen would scare me the most for sure but he has a lot of bodies to climb over and lots of those bodies can really shoot some pool. long ho to road for sure.

Shane's the fav to win and his form seems unstoppable. Great player.
 
You give me ANY pro against 31 other pros, and I'll take the other 31. That's just too much to bet even. You give me 3-4 to 1 on my money, I'll bet on that 1 pro, MAYBE. The competition is tough, and SVB doesn't have a great track record against JA, and a couple other guys still on the winners side. Wouldn't be the first or second time Mike D. put shane on the 1 loss side either.


That's alot to over come. The kid can do it, and I hope he does, but you can't possibly bet on 1 guy vs. the other 31 in race to 11 format. Would be nice to see what the Shane haters will say when he has back to back US open wins... It'll bee all about how there were no Pinoys there... :cool::cool:

that's a big consideration for me is there is no pinoys to contend with. if orcullo was there, i wouldn't even consider it.

ok, down to 23 vs SVB. he has melling and the winner of shaw vs dominquez/feijen to get to the finals. nowwwwwww, who ya got? he has to win 3 matches to be the US open champ. i'm sure he realizes that and his focus will be sharp. and he has 2 matches against relatively newcomers (except feijen) and then awaits one guy out of the pool to face in the finals. he doesn't have to beat 23 of them, just 3.

not saying it's easy or discounting other players but he is the favorite in every match he plays from here on out.

When Sleeve beat him out of the BCA 8 ball open, I guess he did his piss poor routine too. I was told by SEVERAL people he was... less than friendly...


Plays great when he wants too, but seems kind of up tight to me. :cool: :cool:
