Saturday: Semifinals of 2013 U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship

Shane breaks, and this time the wing ball went, but he doesn't have a shot on the 1. He hits it, but leaves Lee a shot on the 1.

Lee pockets the 1, without haste. He got a little short on the 2, but he doesn't have to go far to get to the 4 ball, which is good. He hits it thin and did it right. He's got some nifty little shots that most people would never try. The Filipinos just make them look simple. Lee continues to run out, makes a beautiful on the 5, sitting really pretty on the 6 in the corner with the right angle. Perfect angle on the 7 to get to the 8. Oh, no. He is going to have to go for the billiard with the 8 and 9. They're tied up together. Uh-oh. He makes it. Great shot.

Shane 6, Lee 4.

Lee breaks for Rack No. 11. Wing ball, 1 ball, and cueball. He scratches, and the crowd goes, "Oooooh."

Shane gets ball in hand. He pockets the 2, gets perfect on the 3 in the corner. Rolls the cueball down for perfect leave on the 6. Gets shape on the 7 and the 8, but didn't get perfect for shape on the 9. But he makes a good shot and pockets it.

Shane 7, Lee 4.

It's a race to 13, got to win by 2 clear. It's capped at 15. If it ends up going 14-14, it is one rack for the title.

This time, when Shane breaks, the cueball ends up 1 inch in front of the bottom corner pocket. Danny D. thinks they should break harder to use higher english, which would prevent the cue ball from sitting on the rail at the end of the table.

Shane pushes out, moves the ball an inch. Corteza is not giving it back. He shoots. He tries to hit the 1 into the 9, but he missed it. He gets lucky and leaves Shane snookered.

Danny D. said when the Japanese people see you get lucky in a pool game with a lucky leave, they turn to you and bow. LOL

Quiet in the room. The shotclock was running down, and Shane already used his extension. Shane then tried to jump a ball to hit the 1, but he had a no-hit.

Lee gets ball in hand, makes the 1, and misses the 2. Just makes a bad shot.

Shane shoots hard, and the 9 balls starts moving, but no balls pocketed.

Lee comes back to the table. He tries to slide the 2 in the corner and he scratches. It was a really poor shot.

Shane loves this. He is getting an easy out here. Shane does what Shane does best and runs the table with ease. Everything is going Shane's way. He's feeling good now because he's playing faster.

Shane 8, Lee 4.

Accu-Stats score. Shane so far is 930 and Lee moves down to 773.

Shane breaks, wing ball went, but he doesn't have good position. He overcut the 1, missed, and lucks in the 7. He still doesn't have a shot on the 1. Now he's going to play a safe, and he got one.

Lee retrieves his jump cue. He's going to have to jump over the 6 and 5 to get to the 1 along the side. It's about 4 feet. Make a good hit. Oh, no. The 1 ball ends up 4 inches from the 9 ball opposite end of the table.

Shane might have an easy billiard, the 1 into the 9. It is an entire table length, though He makes it.

Shane 9, Lee 4. Quick game.

Shane breaks and scratches, giving Lee ball in hand.

Lee played until 3 in the morning earlier today, playing against Oscar. Then he had a full day today of pool. Poor Lee must be tired.

Lee starts running out methodically. He tries to shoot the 5 in the corner, and he missed it. It was an easy miss. So sad.

Shane comes back to the table. Has an easy Mickey Mouse runout.

Shane 10, Lee 4.

Shane breaks, pockets a ball on the break. He can see the 1 in the corner pocket and he misses. Unbelievable! Unbelievable! It was a real bad miss, a little lax.

Lee runs to the table, hoping to capitalize on this error by Shane. He pockets the 1. Rolls the 2 up in the corner. Easy 3 ball in the corner. He has a 4-7 combo in the side. He made it. Goes for the 4 in the same side. Rolls it in and takes a cut on the 5 in the opposite side. BEAUTIFUL shot and perfect leave. Fires the 6 in the side and it goes 3 rails. Cueball stops and he can see the 9. Can he make it? He makes it.

Shane 10, Lee 5.

Lee racks and then breaks. Wing ball goes in, as usual. He can see the 1, but it doesn't go by the 2 to the corner pocket. Lee plays a safety, but he didn't snooker him. He left him a mile away, though. Leaves the cueball on the end rail, leaving Shane long and dirty.

Shane makes a good hit and plays safe. Good judgment because it was a difficult shot.

Lee kicks at the 1 and commits a foul with a no-hit. Shane gets ball in hand. He pockets the 1 and 2 in the same pocket with ease. Perfect position on the 3, perfect position on the 4 with a perfect angle to get position on the 6. The 4 was a little wobbly, but it dropped. The 6 and 7 are no problem. Easy 9 in the corner.

Shane 11, Lee 5.

Haven't had any problems with the stream all day, and now as soon as the finals start it keeps freezing. Oh well :(

Shane breaks and scratches in the side pocket. The crowd moans. Lee comes to the table with ball in hand.

The balls blossomed perfect for an easy runout. Balls dropping in, perfect position. Lee is looking good from here.

Barry Behrman is holding his puppy on the rail. Aw! Anybody who loves animals has a warm heart.

Lee runs out for the win. He yanks one back.

Shane 11, Lee 6.
