Saturday: Semifinals of 2013 U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship

my estimate is that he will have about the same overall points, since he was the US Open winner last year.
as for Lee Van, my estimate is that he will become rank #1.

here, http://www.wpa-pool.com/web/rankings

No, he will not gain the number 1 ranking. The US open tournament winner is worth about 400 points. He currently trails Hohmann by about 300 points. Had Hohmann not finished in the top 24, Corteza would get the ranking. Hohmann will still have a 200 point lead (approximately)

Hohmann has 1,734 points before the 2013 US Open. After the event, he loses 96 points (from last year's US Open) and brings his score down to 1,638.
Corteza wont lose any points since he did not participate in last year's US Open (I assume). He currently has 1,409 points. Hohmann then leads 229 points.
Now here's the top-24 from last year and the corresponding points:

417 Van Boening, Shane
330 Orcollo, Dennis
292 Pagulayan, Alex
250 Reyes, Efren
229 Parica, Jose
229 Alcano, Ronnie
208 Appleton, Darren
208 Chang, Jung Lin
187 Feijen, Niels
187 Li, Hewen
187 Archer, Johnny
187 Shaw, Jayson
158 Wang, Can
158 Akagariyama, Yukio
158 Deuel, Corey
158 Dalfonso, Tom
137 Melling, Chris
137 van den Berg, Nick
137 See, Huidji
137 Ouschan, Albin
137 Hundal, Raj
137 Dang, Jin Hu
137 Strickland, Earl
137 Putnam, Shawn

If we'll base this year from the point system last year, Hohmann will be at 1,775 points while Coteza at 1,739 points. Very close. Hence, you are right.
Question is how much points do they give the winners? And how do they measure it?

Thanx, JAM....:bow-down::bow-down::bow-down:

I tend to be wifi-less on Saturdays, so I got home at 2:00 Sunday morning
and went straight to this thread. You made it exciting...my heart was
pounding a few times.

And thanx to Poolbum for the color commentary.....
...you haven't got to this guy's level yet :groucho:.....
...but you're in the neighborhood.

Now if we only could capture somebody to get a statistical over-view...
.. it might be a tough chore...I hear he's At Large.

,,,a fine thread....I started reading AZ in 2006 for the current info...
...as it happens

Jose and Efren aren't competing that regularly .
How old is this list? What am I missing?

this is from last year's US Open. that's the top 24. remember the hill-hill match between efren and daz, where the magician fluked the 9 doing a safety shot. :D
