I honestly have only looked a little but I figured you AZ folks are quite knowledgeable.

So I am wondering did Willie Hoppe ever make a Bacote Titlist? Or a Bacote One Piece cue at all?

I didn't know Willie hoppe made any cues.
 
Yeah I'm dumb. I was typing that so fast while driving. I'm a dumbass. I just meant was a willie hoppe made from bacote? Sorry for my brain fart.
 
Yep...if you're posting while you're driving you ARE a dumbass! :rolleyes: To answer your question, while I'm not a cuemaker, I'm pretty sure bacote is a "newer" wood for cuemaking. Prior to 1970 most cues were rosewood, ebony or maple. Now there are hundreds of different kinds of woods being used to make cues...especially custom cues.

Hmm trying to figure out a one piece cue I saw somewhere that has the signature burnished into it but isn't a darker wood. It looks like bacote though so I dunno. Hehehe
 
hmm interesting. Any ideas if they could be a titlist or a 26 1/2 or at least something interesting. In my travels I don't get to see cool stuff normally. I just see junk wally world cues that people think should be worth millions. HEHEHE
 
Oak.

Oak was used in the past, but fell out of favor as being too pedestrian in cues.

It hits a ton though.

My number one playing cue is rosewood with oak points/butt sleeve.
 
Oak Titlist

Well after doing a lot more searching around and what not, I feel I have come to the conclusion that they likely were either an Ashe or Oak Titlist and perhaps a Rosewood 26 1/2. Anyone else's input is welcome. As I mentioned before, in my travels I never seem to come across something that's actually of interest.

I did take other pictures of them if anything would help in the ID process.
 
Help

So I'm not stepping on any toes with the forum with any bumps or anything, if someone could just PM me that could potentially aid in the possible positive ID of these 2 cues I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks a bunch AZers!!!
 
Why not repost this in the Ask a Cuemaker forum? There's a lot more information to be gleaned from there, as well as people who know more about cuemaking woods, and their history. Just a suggestion...:D

Did they make 26 1/2 cues out of wenge? I thought it to be either rosewood of braz rosewood. Definitely has the Titlist veneers.

I don't see why they wouldn't have. I've seen them with multiple types of different rosewoods, purpleheart and ebony also.
