Pool is not all goody-goodys. Kids need to know what they're getting into.
Str8-shots has been giving sponsorships to kids and adults around the country. Some want to go to nationals and Str8-shots is going to try and help. Kimberly posted her information in the first post of this thread.
It is that kind of thinking that doesn't allow kids to have a place to play or learn. Open your mind a little bit about the future of pool!!! Yes, our environment is not meant for kids but it is entirely possible to teach kids how to play pool in an environment healthy for them. I have been playing pool for over thirty years and the last couple of years participating with the kids at their own tournaments has been very good for me and the parents of these kids.
Folks been talking that "change" stuff for 25+ years, and after all that time what's really different? Not much. Better off just educating the kids on what the pool world is all about because the more things "change" the more they stay the same. It is what it is.

A Harriman/Schmidt match wasn't what he was supposed to be working on is all I can say, that match totally came out of nowhere for Kimberly. When she responded that it wasn't going to happen a whole can of worms was opened. She ended up losing some of the kids she sponsored because of postings on here and Facebook. No one that posted negative comments took the time to see what Str8-shots is about, just threw up a bunch of theories with no evidence to support them. That match did not support Str8-shots focus. It is just that simple, no money, no recognition, not trying to make a name for themselves, just wanted to work with kids and teach them a few things.

Some kids wanted training with a professional and Str8 Shots pays the bills. This is why Nick Varner and Karen Corr were in Denver this past weekend. Str8 Shots also helps the kids they don't sponsor raise money so that their parents do not have to cover all the expenses. They helped through sponsorship and fundraising to more than 20 kids to nationals this year.

Some idiot from AZ took the information that he heard in this thread and convinced several of the parents that Str8 Shots was scamming charities and cheating kids with no proof. Because he happened to know the families they went with him. I will point out that this gentlemen has since apologized when it was proven to him that he was wrong.
Again, stay in the stone age! No one is trying to change pool, just trying to help some kids participate in the industry at THEIR OWN level! Hardheads like you is what keeps the industry the way it is!

No, I do not work for Str8 Shots, just hated what happened to them before on this thread. There are a lot of great people on this forum who seem to get caught in things without all of the information required to make an intelligent decision or post. BFDLAD tried to stir this up again and cause a lot of problems for Str8 Shots with his woe is me at Christmas time post.
