Butt length question

I just got a cue where the butt is 28.25" and the shaft is 29". Everything looks original and is say the cue is from the 70's-80's. The joint is .875, 1.06 above the wrap, 1.20 below and 1.26 at the buttcap. Are these shorter butt cues built with billiard cues in mind? All my other 57" or 57.5" cues are all split evenly.

All of my BLACK HEART CUES are 57 1/2", with the butt being 28 1/2"...JER

Still curious if other older cues have these specs.

From the 20s - 30s onward the default length for pool cues was 57" - split 50/50,
like the Hoppe and standard Rambos until McDermott and/or Meucci changed it to 58".

Balabushka used 57 1/2 for his std length.

The larger joint diameter is typical for a 3C cue from that era - but length would have
been more like 55 - 56 inches.
