What area in the pocket is a ball not going in acceptable?

Should a ball that hits fully on the facing (straight into it, not hitting the rail or point when going in) be deflected into the pocket at any table?

I play in a few places where I hit a ball clean up the table, it hits the facing (not the point at all) and goes thud thud thud and hangs or bounces out of the pocket. This is at medium speed, not firing it in. I can see the ball roll down the rail, hit the facing clean and not go in.

Not a mech but....
Sounds like someone got a pocket opening around 145*.

Maybe he can take some pictures of the corner pocket opening.
What kind of table btw ?
Olhausen ?

Numbers of reasons...what's the softness of the cushion...the facing...what's the miter angles...what's the down angles of the pockets.....shelve depths.

There's a ton of reasons...not knowing the cushions....angles.....and just as importantly how close to the point was the ball hit.....how hard....English on the ball.
Show a pic of the table and the pocket angles.....that will help us get a better understanding of the problem.

It's not just one table. One place I found this issue at has GCIIIs, the other has furniture type tables which I can't remember the brand of.

What I wanted to know is mainly IF a table is setup as it should be (straight cuts on the pockets, right angles of the cuts, etc..), if a ball is hit at normal speeds, and it hits the facing full on, should it be guided into the pocket?

I was thinking that I may be hitting the ball wrong somehow, but it seems to me if the ball hits fully inside the facing, that it should drop pretty much 100% of the time, given a medium speed shot. I can see how it can bobble if hit hard with spin, but a regular hit seems to reject the balls in many places I play in.

What ur describing sound like the balls is slightly catching the point of the facing/cushion while entering the pocket and puts spin on the ball causing it to spin out off the facing while shot in, the only time this can happen is if a ball is shot in from the certain angle on the table, from the shooters angle of the shot it looks like the ball when straight in but actually caught the tip putting spin on the OP.
Or the pockets are way to inches wide ....
