Looking for help on a cue signing gift

My son has a cue that he got when he was 10 (almost 4 yrs ago) when he won a league final, the manager of the pool hall gave him the cue as a gift.

Over the years I've gotten it signed by a lot of pros, Earl, Shane, Alex, Gabe Owen, Dechaine, Jayson Shaw just a few weeks ago, Mike Davis, Mike Sigel, Corey, several others I don't recall now.

I am missing some that I may never have a chance to meet, and I'd love to get them all on the cue, especially since some of the players are getting older.

If anyone has contact info for players that would sign the cue and ship it back to me (or along to the next pro) I would really appreciate if you could find out if they would sign the cue for my son and where to send it.

Nick Varner
Efren Reyes <-- we may head to NY so see the match between him and Strickland so may get his signature then, probably a 50/50 chance of us being able to go
Jim Rempe <-- I may have this covered as I know someone that knows him
John Schmidt
Francisco Bustamante
Allen Hopkins

There are probably tons more that would be great to collect on there, but the cue is going to run out of room!

Actually, I just thought of something, Justin at TAR may be a great guy to leave the cue with LOL, every time a match goes though, he can have them sign the cue live on the stream. Now THAT would be cool!

If I were you, I would consider going to the Derby City Classic next month. Half of those people will be there for sure.

I think getting the signatures in person is more genuine and likely would be better appreciated by those whose autographs you seek.

Mailing the cue around for autographs has more of a 'creating monetary value' feel to it, imo.

Would be nice to do, except I can't travel around finding those guys hehe, and the number or pro events in my area are slim.

I may need to check on some of the NY tournaments if they are on the weekends to maybe travel to one of those, but I doubt Hall or Varner would be going to those.

Not much monetary value in the cue as there is a big inscription on it "To Alex the Champ" that the manager wrote on it when he won the league finals hehe.

Pagulayan also sighed it with a "Nice Name!" as they are both Alex. If this cue ever leaves our family ownership my wife would kill me.

Would love to go, except I have no vacation pay and would be losing a few grand in salary going there in addition to the cost of the event, which I can't afford.

I may need to check on the NY area tournaments, they attract more name players than the events in New England, I'll probably be able to get some there.

Forgot about Immonen, I'm sure he'll be in NY, maybe even there during the Efren/Earl match.

Just think if all these people sent Justin @ TAR something to hang onto and get signed -- he could have a whole case full of stuff to keep track of, t shirts, jackets, cases, pool cues.

I like that you are so supportive of your son's pool endeavors and it's admirable that you're trying to get his cue signed by these legends.

Worth clarifying is that when I said that sending the cue around for pros to sign would take on a "creating value feel, imo", I meant from the signers perspective. Not that you were necessarily trying to have all of those legends sign the cue intending to put it up on ebay.

On a side note, imagine those guys agreeing to receive the box containing the cue, unpacking it, signing it, repacking it, figuring out to whom it's going next, readdressing it, bringing it to the post office or ups or whatever shipper, paying and shipping it off. I think it's pretty safe to say, that isn't gonna happen.

your plan b sounds good, attend what events you can and get the ones you can.
