Dead corners

I've been shooting some pool on my friends 2 year old Diamond Pro. The rails seem generally a little flat but the area on both sides of every pocket ( an inch from the edge ) is very dead. Klunk and very little rebound. It feels like the facings are way to stiff. Any one had any feedback from Diamond or anyone else about this??

No they are not. It was just recovered and leveled last Friday. We didn't recover the rails though. Cloth was still in good shape. Pockets are stock 4 1/2 from Diamond. Can't get pictures easily. Its not my table.

what size table do you have? did you get the table new from Diamond? are the cushion hard as rock in those spots

Yes the table was new from Diamond. 9' pro. Not quite rocks yet but definitely thudding and losing bounce.

First of all, I'd check all the rail bolts and make sure they're at 15ft lbs torque tight, secondly the facings are just a little harder than the cushions are so a straight on hit at the points of the cushions are not going to act the same as the rest of the cushions act...no rails/facings do.

He just had the table slates fixed and recovered. And although they didn't torque the rail bolts they were tightened evenly. Besides, the dead spots are next to the points not on them.

Without being right there at the table to see for myself, it's hard to comment as to what could be the problem, if in fact there is a problem. The facings will hold the very ends of the cushions a little stiffer than say more than an inch out from them, as within the first inch of the facings the cushions can't compress without having a little stiffness being added by the facings, this is not a Diamond problem..but more like a facing/cushion blending together...all pocket cushions have facings.
 
can you tell if the rail cloth was pulled tighter in that area. Without seeing the table in person it would be hard to figure out the problem.
