DVD Review- CJ Wiley's Million Dollars Challenge

Wondering if the DVD explains as to why there was a 2 year court battle for Earl to collect the prize money, if it was won fair and square.

Court battles Are the Teacher.

The achievement was never in question...it was whether or not the policy was indeed finalized and in place at the time of the event (all t's crossed and i's dotted)...which later proved it was!

The truth is the teacher!

The Insurance Co. didn't question Earl's run

From what I've heard, and obviously CJ knows better... There were a couple things that the insurance company took exception to.

First was - when CJ "did the deal" with the insurance company, a deal similar to a golf "get a hole in one", some of the deal was verbal and payment transaction details may have come in question. Perhaps a loose and obscure agreement. It was a first of a kind.

2nd: The insurance company may have taken exception to the definition of a break and run. So when Earl dropped a 9 ball, at least 3 times, before the 8, it gave the insurer reason to take exception.

That's my speculation. CJ?

The Insurance Co. didn't question Earl's run or how he did it.....it was quite obvious in the video and from the 30+ witnesses that it had happened.

Earl and I were determined to see justice prevail

OK, that makes perfect sense.

If the contract stated, break and run, they would take exception to a 9 off the break.
I wouldn't as I see it as part of the game, but I can see where the insurance company wouldn't see it that way.

I have had my dealings with insurance and they will dick you over for a hand full of 20 dollar cds.

Ruthless B itchez they are.

They really mess with a person when you put your truck thru the ice in the middle of a lake.
Don't drink Mad Dog 20 - 20 and go ice skimming with 2 tons at hand. ;) Papa missed telling us SO many lessons. :grin-square:

(sorry my quote skills went under water)

It's a "money game" to "insurance bookies" .....they figure odds and know they can win a certain percentage of the time, especially if they force the issue over years of legal costs. They didn't factor in that a "pool player" may be able to spend over $300,000 defending a lawsuit........but Earl and I were determined to see justice prevail and he deserved his money......that's why I paid him $50,000 immediately, to share in his damages and "fight the good fight" along with him......I would do it again.

Thanks for elaborating CJ. I can only imagine the stress this uncalled for legal proceeding placed upon you, Earl and your close ones.

got mine today. watched most of it. and although the video quality of the last 5 racks was below average. (they explain why) it was worth the 30$ and you get a signed promo pic with it also:)

There are some scenes and extra footage I thought was cheesy but hey im glad I bought it.

Glad you liked it, the video was taken by me ex wife, Angela and was required for Insurance verification. It does show him run the last racks and Jay Helfert is the "co star" patiently racking the balls.....making sure EVERY ball was frozen.

Our main objective is to get pocket billiards on the "Big Screen" and all signs look positive. One way or another we are dedicated to getting the Game back on TV no matter what the cost, be it time, or money. We appreciate everyone that wants to our Game back in the public spotlight.......it's just a matter of time.....Happy New Year :D

verification by Pay Pal with a tracking number.

Nope. I ordered it on December 11 (17 days ago). :)

You should have been sent verification by Pay Pal with a tracking number. If not, PM me with your name and email address and I'll track it for you.

Happy Ney Year

This will forever be one of my favorite videos of all time regardless of subject. I just watched it 5 times in a row & had to stop from choking as I could not stop laughing.

If you close your eyes you'd swear its Earl. Except the end, where he offers Efren the 8. ;)

CJ, I sifted through my emails and found the tracking number. It arrived today. :) I'll PM you the tracking number. I'm actually on the way to NYC to watch UFC168 with friends, so it looks like I won't get to watch the DVD until Monday. LOL

Joe Rogan is a funny, I like his sharp witted comedy. We did some pool shows together with the PCA back in the mid 90s - he said he got "discovered" at a amateur comedy night, some friends "encouraged" him to get up and do a routine he had been doing in the locker room at the gym. He then became "Joe the Electrician" on NEWS RADIO and did FULL FRONTAL COMEDY on ShowTime.......the rest is history.

The bold is a BS statement, if I ever heard one. CJ paid Earl $50K immediately (which was all he was entitled to, for the first year of the annuity), to keep Earl quiet, and from interfering in the pursuit of the lawsuit. CJ knew well what Earl was capable of doing, in terms of creating a ruckus (and, in this case, it would have been justified), which is why he paid him off to keep quiet.
