DVD Review- CJ Wiley's Million Dollars Challenge

pee break....

Mr. Wilson? I need help.

Regardless of "someone's" commentary, at 48 minutes into it, with all due respect my dearist, I find this DVD fascinating. Some call it the greatest feat in pool. It may well be. The insight offered up, the candidness, the setting. For a million frigging dollars? The raw footage and drama. My goodness.

CJ's change in hair style is worth the price of admission alone! :)

"keep everything CLEAN....EVERY rack....any debris can stop you from doing it....i was getting more consistency....so i ran 8 racks one day....i've never ran 8 racks before on this table....no debris can stop the corner ball (on the break)....chalk - humidity - powder - any little thing/any kind of debris....i had to make the ball totally RESILLIENT.....so i kept the balls resillient EVERY game." - Earl

Earl: "So I practice and think @ it for two months. I'm thinking @ it wondering if it's possible (to run 10 for a million).... I'd practice and would run 4 or 5. I then started cleaning the balls after every rack, I realize that ANY debris on the balls or on the table was the key to it. I started running more racks. Made an 8 run. ANY little debris would hurt my runs. I'd wash a big towell, over and over, so there was no lint for my opponent to take exception to. Debris, chalk, powder, humidity could stop a corner ball from going in."

History...

I don't even realize CJ's self promoting. If that's even what it is. What I get from CJ is lots of incite regarding POOL and it's history. Lots of great stories. Helpful insight. Respectful post even in reply to his haters. What I see on here are lots of haters. Not just towards CJ but you can always tell who is going to be negative in just about any post. I don't know CJ or anyone one here. However, I enjoy the majority of his posts even when I don't agree. For all the hating that goes on here. I bet CJ is a good guy in person.

A member posts a request for a review of the DVD. I think we can all assume he wanted an unbiased review, yes? So then CJ responds to that request by just posting an advertisement, the same one he has been posting all over. An AD! He posts in ad in a thread requesting a review of his body of work. Personally, I think that is void of any class.

How can you not call that self-promotion. In fact it is nothing but self-promotion since his post had absolutely no new content. I for one, will be so pleased when CJ runs out of things to sell.

Good post!

This forum charges nothing for access and people still disrespectfully complain when somebody posts something that's not exactly what they want to see. CJ makes a living off his rep and knowledge which is much more than the majority here can say about their pool game.

What other forum has a pro that puts up with insults and snide remarks and still comes back for more? Is it because he's making a killing off of $30 DVDs? He's got a clown car of stalkers that post in every thread he's in and wait for the slightest hint of self aggrandizing behavior that no world champion should display, in order to pile on and fuel the flames. Pathetically sitting in front of the monitor, waiting to pounce and rally the other haters to publicly embarrass a guy that has contributed more in the last year to this forum in pool knowledge than probably anybody, save a few...and with what in return?

CJ is a professional player, coach, and instructor. He makes a portion of his living from the game and will continue to do so despite the criticism he receives. If petty jealousy and his large ego are the motivations for all the hate, he will eventually go away and the detractors will have done their job. I suspect more don't post on this forum that would like to see a free flow of information from him than do, and without all the childish whining about what the forum should be according to their pain threshold.

I enjoy the idea of little restriction on posts, as long as they are relevant to the discussion. In this thread, we are discussing the DVD and CJ's getting knocked for his promotion of the DVD. Think about it. After you figure it out, realize in your next hater post, thousands that read your posts are thinking what an a$$ you are and are hoping you stop posting. Of course, except for the other guys wearing clown makeup. sFi_flamethrowing.gif

Best,
Mike

"Mad Genius!!!"

i was nervous racking @ 10th frame
i wanted to make sure everything was perfect
i kept racking till i made sure e-v-e-ry- ball was touching
- Jay Helfert

You know there's a LOT of pressure when the tournament director {racking the balls} is worried about "dogging it". LoL

Jay did a tremendous job in that tournament, considering the magnitude of the pre$$ure!!!

"Mad Genius!!!"

At the final settlement there were 17 attorneys present

Wondering if the DVD explains as to why there was a 2 year court battle for Earl to collect the prize money, if it was won fair and square.

Court battles Are the Teacher.

Yes, the "legal battle" went on for 2.5 years and ran up over 300k in expenses on our side (Earl wasn't required to pay any of these costs until after things were settled).....at the final settlement there were 17 attorneys present and an agreement was reached in less than 5 hours.

Earl and I go over this in much more detail in the documentary.....he was "very happy" after the "smoke cleared" and checks were issued....he wanted to pay cash for a pool room, however...........that's another story. ;)

CJ Wiley has made a DVD for sale of Earl Strickland running 11 racks for a million dollars, and let everyone on the AZ forums know about it. I'm not understanding what all the complaining is about, is he suppose to keep it a secret?? No one in the history of pool has done this for that amount of money, and people are calling CJ, self serving??

Just having a pro on these forums sharing his knowledge is awesome!! I guess I'm not suppose to understand the disrespect he receives:-). Someone said Justin would never do that. What, promote his events?? Does he keep the TAR matches a secret, so only a select few tune in???? I think not...Thank you CJ for letting us know about this epic DVD!!! Make sure you send us a postcard from the private Island you buy with all the huge profit you make from this video:smile:

Time for Luxury's review:

I have watched the racks being run several times. The DVD rocked my world. It was almost like watching Shindler's List. Epic, yet depressing.

My biggest fear came true after finding out it was called, "Pool's Biggest Miss." I was right that is would focus on how CJ was brilliant with his "Master Plan" but got robbed.

The first ten minutes are a snoozefest. I've never seen Shindler's List but I bet the same could be said. Then enter Jay Helfert. Now we are talking. Let me just skip ahead and say that the Earl Strickland interviews where he looks straight into the camera are worth the price of admission alone. There are a couple sentences uttered by him in the interview and also after he wins that broke my heart.

Also CJ says some things that left me humbled.

There are some fun facts that I never would have dreamed of.

The best part of the video is also the worst part of the video. CJ, I have to guess that the insurance company had an issue with the footage on the final shot.

I'm a believer in not keeping things long so I will end it here. It's a must see.

I agree with this. It's cool C.J. is on AZB. I think this product is one many are interested in. I don't get the problem some are having either (with the marketing), if it's OK with the site's owners, that's all that matters. Keep on posting C.J., and I definitely look forward to buying and seeing this DVD.

alright - MAN-UP! cause yáll know that there is NO LOVE LOST b/w us & CJ. but i don't discriminate - and THIS IS ABOUT EARL.

we just finished watching the EARL v CJ match....BUY IT.
yáll had no-oooo commentary, cause i was too busy texting CJ about doggin'it...!

my RECOMMENDATION is - BUY BOTH - at discount $ - it is WORTH THEM.

When they let Geno and his perfect aim sell through a blog on the main forum through a blog, I gave up *****ing about it. Yes CJ is long winded, but he gives out and sells good info that every level can find useful. Johnnyt

Best,

Nice Mike, you just made another hater post.

Addendum... Although I wish there was more footage of the "run", I'll be watching it again and again.

Note to CJ: For the love of God, did you get Mary a new skirt for Christmas? ;)

(on the dvd she recreated the infamous 1 - 9 combo in "the" skirt)

She's got a plethora of skirts that's for sure. She also has all kinds of hats that she likes to wear. Her new Santa Claus hat went over really well, she wore it out every night around Christmas. I told people "she wears it "EVERY" night except Christmas" - Mary is quite the character, she got a dose of the flu the last few days, but she's better today.

Happy New Year KK9L.....Hope 2014 is the Best One Yet for You and Yours. :D
