I am looking to have a cue made. I was wondering if you guys could steer me in a direction of a decent cuemaker. Not looking to have a milllion dollar masterpiece made. Possible an up and coming cue maker. Thanks Jason

I am looking to have a cue made with 8 points. 4 high 4 low with some veneers. I am looking to get back into playing again. I quit playing many years ago. I started to get back in 1999 and ordered a cue form a cuemaker in florida. This situation turned out horrible and had to fight to get my money back, hoping this time will turn out better. Thanks

Just to add some more info. I am looking for a decent up and coming cuemaker, not really the guys that have a 5 year waiting list and want 5000.00 dollars. Thanks guys. I will try to see if I can contact dig dug, and a couple others that were suggested.

I'm having a cue made by Cory Barnhart, and he's been incredible to deal with and very fairly priced. I have to agree with Steve Lomax also.

Re:Having a new cue made.

Hello I know if I want a cue made I can think of 2 cue makers. First is Rick Gesechrey at Esoteric custom cues his AZb name is scdiveteam, Second cue maker I would have make my cue is Pete Ohman at Omen custom cues, you can reach him at (321)951-8123 These two cue makers are Super guys to work with. Also they make killer cues. Good luck in your search for the right cue maker.

Chris:wink:

2 best on the market

Kent Davis in CA. IMO maybe the best I've hit with.
Jack Madden in Montana.

IMO Davis cues have a little less deflection & Madden has a little longer taper.
But try contacting these makers yourself. Less mark up aka better bang for your buck.
Good luck on your journey

Josh

:::: Keith Josey ::::: I couldn't possibly say enough to give his work the credit it deserves. Him and his wife are both stand up people. His cues play great regardless of the price range. I've had cues from him that cost any where 350-2k and they all played fantastic. Check out his website and give him a call. I know for a fact that you won't be disappointed with what you receive.

I would suggest looking up some of the makers to see if you like the work they do. You will see a unique style to each cue maker.

I am having a custom cue made by Robert Harris out of Florida. I have been very happy with his level of communication and work thus far. He just sent me more progress pictures today and I am more than impressed with the almost finished product.

Send me a PM if you would like his contact information.

My top two to talk to would be Leon Sly and digdug on here. digdug is Doug Beasley and he's making some killer cues and Leon does as well. Both GREAT guys to work with.

Haha, I expect we will see all or most of makers mentioned in this thread :D

To join the fun, why don't send a PM to Jim Baxter, or if you want something special in the look, try Chuck Starkey.

I think the question is not so much, who makes a good cue within your budget, but how long their lead time is.
DZ cues states 1 year on his web page.
Leon Sly needed 3 months for my player, i guess longer for a 8 pointer.
As far as i know Jim Baxter does not do 8 pointers.
The Esoteric cues look sweet, but i have no idea of his lead time.

Would recommend Brent Summers. Very good guy to deal with and has a passion in doing a unique and one of a kind cue for ya.

Mike Gulyassy (gulyassy)
Bob Danielson (bdues)
Chuck Starkey (desi2960)

All three are excellent to deal with, and can make you a great playing cue, for a very reasonable price.

Bob Danielson ( BD cues )is the one of most underrated cuemaker out there , man his cues shoot awesome .
I just ordered my second one .

DZ Bob Dzuricky made my first true custom. Stated build time would be 26-27 weeks. Build time was like 26. 5 weeks. Stopped counting e- mails at about sixty. Total communication and updates. A pro photographer, I was sent pics of every piece of build. My wrap less is on his completed page. Easy to find, it's the most unusual cue there. Originally the eight maple veneers in the handle were just un adorned. He said he thought ivory dots would look nice so I said how much more. He said it was not discussed so he threw them in!!! Flawless finish. Ask about his secret special shaft which he doesn't speak of in his website! Think he puts Kryptonite in it somehow. Went with the cue ball joint just because it's different. His website is an absolute education on cues. Check it out even if you don't use him.

You might want to check with Scot Sherbine at Proficient Billiards. He just posted a pic of an 8 point cue he built. I've never played one of his cues but his repair work is great and he has a good reputation.

There's a pic of his 8 pointer on his Facebook page if your interested.

Good luck with your search.
