Mosconi Cup Suggestion

After having been to the last two Mosconi Cups in the USA and hearing all the references to the Ryder Cup , incorporate some Ryder Cup Strategy. You need to have a format where the captain can captain. Not which American plays with which American but on some matches who plays period . A Captain needs to be able to sit someone out . The Ryder Cup doesn't demand that every player play everyday.. Many times a popular player is sat out by the captainfor various reasons. They are not required to play everybody except on the last day of singles. It should be up to the captain to have more imput on who plays for many different reasons particularly when he is judged by winning or losing. As it is now a player can do and say and act as they want with no ability of the captain to make hard decisions

In my perfect world, the USA Mosconi Captain would be selected in January, and would be required to announce the criteria and methodology for selection of Team USA (Matchroom would be allowed a wild card, of course) prior to the onset of the Derby City Classic, which is the first key event on the American pool calendar. That would ensure that those who hope to represent their country participate in the top events in America. I'd go a step further and give the Mosconi captain a budget with which to manage the process. Golf Ryder Cup captains are chosen over eighteen months in advance and are given resources with which to manage the process.

...I'd like to see the Mosconi captain have more conveniences, more power and more authority.

I'm all for giving the Captain more authority, but I think FIRST you have to ensure the Captain is just that, ONLY a Captain.
Not a Player-Captain, only a Captain.
