Trivia contest -- Minnesota Fats

Very cool article about Fats on the OnePocket.org website when he was inducted into the One Pocket Hall of Fame ---> HERE.

I'm not sure if this is the car in the article that I read about, but Fats had a car that he toured in with paint that changed colors depending on the way the sun hit it. The man knew how to advertise and did so quite successfully. :)

July 20, 1964 ... might as well pick (the Monday after) my birthday. And since we get 2 guesses I'll also say June 22, 1964. Thanks for the fun contest.

The prize: a hardback copy of the autobiography (somewhat fictional) "The Bank Shot and Other Great Robberies" by Minnesota Fats and Tom Fox, plus a small paper back by Fats.

The question: On what date did Fats apply for a Social Security number?

Rules: Closest answer wins. Earliest answer wins ties. Contest ends on January 19th (his 101st birthday) at noon AZ time. Post your answer here.

Hints: He didn't get a SSN until after "The Hustler" came out. He got one before "The Bank Shot" came out in 1966.

I'll guess Sept 5 1965

If you have John Grissim's book "Billiards" you may want to reread Chapter 1 which is about how Fats relieved Richie Florence of $20,000 at the Johnston City tournament in 1970. It was pretty gutsy of Grissim to do a first chapter about one pocket.

Well, today's the day that the winner will be announced. Bumpety Bump!

Indeed. It is now noon Arizona time on the 101st birthday of Rudolf Wanderone, AKA Minnesota Fats. Here is part of his SS application:

so the correct answer is Nov. 23rd, 1964. The closest to this was punter's guess of Nov. 25th which he guessed back in post #36.

Congratulations. PM me with your address and I'll send the two books.
