Case Of The Year ~ VOTE HERE!!!

I would like to suggest that next year all makers who have multiple nominations have a preliminary poll to see which of their cases make it to the final round. In the final round there would be only ONE case from each maker to be voted on. The winner there would then be case of the year.

For the cases that make it to the final round it would be cool if each maker would write a short description of how the case came to life.

Furthermore I think it would be nice if we had a people's choice and a maker's choice like the ACA and the ICCS do it.

I believed people who were summiting Case of the Year entries were customers who bought cases from whatever maker, such as myself. I'm not a case maker entering my wares. I bought all my cases and proudly entered one. If a case maker made and sold 10 beautiful custom cases all different and all for customers, how is it fair to all his customers that are proud of their case to have someone say only one can be entered. If one case maker is making 5, 10, 20 cases for customers that are worthy to make the nomination list I guess every case maker better make a lot more nice case also.
I believe the award is called "CASE OF THE YEAR" NOT "CASE MAKER OF THE YEAR"

Hope you understand my point John..
If you made 5 beautiful cases for customers this year, and someone told them only one of you can compete for an award. Makes no sense... BEST cases are nominated PERIOD....
Every case gets judged on it's own individual merit.. Regardless who made it..
If the top case are all made by the same maker regardless who it is, then so be it..
All the best,
Ken

I agree that all can be nominated. But then have two rounds of voting. One round is to decide which single case from each maker goes to the final vote.

I just think that having many cases from one maker dilutes the vote at the end.

All cases are still competing for the award.

Also I am not complaining. I know that what we do has little shot of ever winning one of these beauty pageants. The competition is too strong with some great work on display. We do need to step up and build more super heavy tooled theme cases to have any chance. Maybe in 2014 we will do a couple.

I just think it would be cool to see one case from each maker get voted on in the final round.

Then it would be the peoples choice of the best JB case of the year up against the best of the other case maker's work.

I wholeheartedly disagree John. The best cases are the best cases, no matter if the case maker only has 1 case in the top 10, or has all 10 cases.

As I've said it many times, and I will say it again... the reason for these threads is to show off the art and craftsmanship of cues and cases for all to enjoy. The poll is a distant second to the enjoyment of sharing everyone's pictures of their cases and cues in one thread.

The people that enjoy these threads the most are the ones that take them for what they are.

I hope you are not misunderstanding me. I think any case that people want to nominate should be. The art of all the cases is then still on display.

Obviously the poll is not a distant second. I would gladly bet my life that winning the vote is hugely important to many of the participants.

Everyone wants to own an award winning item. Our country and probably every country is obsessed with awards.

If the vote doesn't matter then don't have one. Just have a year end showcase thread instead.

It's thrilling to see the votings... Fast n furious all the way! I'm happy to see so many votes ... May the best win n I hope my pearl wins!

I'm not going to debate it with you John, this will be my last post on this. You said you would never run it again, but now you want it to be run your way... very hypocritical. Please do not drag this thread into the mud.

We can discuss over a beer at the DCC.

Don't go there. It is simply a point of discussion. At the end of the day I don't give a shit how its run because no matter how these contests are done they are always subjective beauty contests and as such invite hurt feelings. They should be fun and the experience on both the cue and case one the past few years has not been fun.

I simply post my thoughts on the subject. Not really sure why you are taking offense.

gonna be an interesting finish, what a duel...

...........
Now the race is on and here comes pride up the backstretch...

Congratulations Roger you nailed it my friend!
The Pearl is a really special case from its thin interior like a pro lite that allows everything to be put in the case easy until the last few inches of the forth shaft then everything is tight and won't fall out when inverted and shaken! Then you put the pin thru the strap so if the lid comes unsnapped it still won't open to the unique smaller shape! It even has my favorite style zippers on the pockets and on each side of the pocket rather than the L zipper your in laws came up with for their luggage line! Thank you for everything you did Roger,
Ron

So it's more secure for the cues when the cues are retained in the case when its inverted and shaken?

Not everyone has the same perspective john. You can keep going around giving YOUR opinions about volturi, ron and I are still gonna think we have the best interior for our cues.
