I got an email from the league operator for USAPL league, they are looking for a 20+ table room in N.E. to host the 8 ball N.E. championship tournament.

Snookers does not have that many tables, I think Jillians in Boston and Worcester do but at least in Worcester the tables are so bad that you may as well not call them a "pool hall", so that would be my last pick for those.

I don't know how many tables TJs in ME has, but I do know they are way out of the central area for most players in N.E., it's over a 3 hour drive one way for me from central MA, so that may be out.

I read about Big Shot Billiards in CT, are they any good, the info on it looks current and they look to have a large # of tables. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Big-Shot-Billiards-Inc/117558901603264

I don't think TJ's has 20 tables, I thought it was more like 18.

Similarly, Union Station Billiards, in Portland has about 18, if I remember correctly.

All bar tables, but yeah they have a lot. Lots of league play.

Can they make do with the 15 tables snookers has it is the nicest pool room in the northeast!!

Maybe not, they asked for 20+ tables. Other than that I'd pick Snookers.

Too bad Country Club USA shut down that was an absolutely perfect room for large tournaments.

Fred, thanks for the note about Big Shots, I don't know if they are OK with bar tables or not, will have to check. I personally would not want any sort of state or regional championship played on bar tables.

Shooters Billiards in Southington, CT has over 20 9 foot tablels.

According to their site they have exactly 20 :-)

I think I was there before a few years ago for the CT Junior State championship with my son. I remember that because at 12 he beat a 17yr old, although that was his only win that year.

Just my opinion but Big Shots is horrible it's so congested in there. I've been there for states for APA an everytime it's is a nightmare

Kinda a sad state of affairs when you can't find a room in New England with 20 tables. @ early 90s there were 3 rooms with 20 + tables within a 5 mile radius of me on the South Shore of MA plus dozens others in the state. Now there are only a handful of rooms left period.

There are still some nice rooms left, and a nice new one in Malden that has very good tables, but they are all small compared to what there used to be.

If Boston Billiards was still open in Boston, that would be a good place, they always had better tables than Jillians and had a much larger good player clientele.

Country Club was big enough to hold any size tournament with plenty of room, I think I miss that room and Brighton Billiards the most of the ones that closed down in MA.

I am thinking they either need to be happy with less tables or with bad tables at Jillians in Worcester if they can even get that place to hold a tournament there.

Another requirement was for "plenty of parking" which is also pretty hard to find. When Snookers has a large tournament, there are solid cars along the road it's on from end to end that overflow out of the parking lot.

BO's in Warwick (used to be a Boston Billiards) has over 20 9's and a fair amount of parking.

Hey, you're right about that one, totally forgot about it. I think the tables were in pretty good shape as well. I was there a few times when friends of mine played in tournaments there.

cue& brew would be great for that 203 483 1388

I think the main issue with that room is that it's a longer drive than many of the others and is way at the bottom of N.E. I'm central to MA which is about central to New England, Cue and Brew is at the bottom of CT. Which is a 2 hour drive from anyone at the northern part of MA and is 3+ hours for those in N.H or Maine.

Really a room in MA would be best but there is not much there, aside from the Jillians in Worcester MA which has enough tables, but not the parking or usable tables as their setup was seeming done by a donkey with 2 baboons helping.

The rooms in R.I. actually have about the same problem but BOs is about 45 minutes from central MA where Cue and Brew is 1hr 20 minutes.

I'm at A here, as you can see, it's right about central to New England area, at least if we don't count Maine or Northern N.H. LOL. I guess to be truly central to N.E. you'd have to be at the northen part of MA which is about an hour from me.
