Who makes quality maple shafts? I have a Joss and Jacoby both with 5/16-14 joint. I don't really like how their shafts play. I had a Meucci original and red dot shafts which I liked. So I guess I am looking for something that plays more like a Meucci. More english with less effort. I prefer 12.75-13mm.
 
If you want to get spin on the cueball easier, get a low deflection shaft with a layered tip.

You can also just get the Meucci shaft you like and get it fitted to your cue.
 
Haven't found a LD shaft I like. Well I did like the OB but found I was inconsistent with it. Kinda like to stick with maple. Don't have faith in Meucci like I use to. I tried Predator, OB and Katana. Just couldn't get use to them.
 
You need to contact steve klapp. His 140 year old growth shafts are the nuts. I have 2 with micarta ferrules and wow! Add a Crown tip and you have a pretty spectacular combination.

Maple Shaft

Steve Klapp makes a great shaft and I have one of his OG's, but it is definitely not whippy like the Meucci shafts I am familiar with. I highly recommend Steves shafts but I don't think you will care for it, if you want something Meucci like.
 
It's not a whippy thing for me. Some shafts can draw easier than others. Just want a nice maple shaft that will draw the cue with the least amount of effort.
 
That isn't really just the shaft. Many top pros can all draw very well but use different shafts. SVB has a cheapo cuetec. Corey uses the OB classic pro. It's all in the stroke for the most part. If you want something solid feeling and good feedback I would call Steve. Well worth it.

So your saying all shafts are created equal. OK. I will look and see where I can buy a stroke. Thanks
 
I'm just being helpful. They aren't all built the same. I've played with custom shafts. Basic maple shafts. LD shafts. I swore they improved my English. Ultimately it was my confidence in what I was using. Be confident. Stroke true and you can almost draw with a broom handle. For your own sake don't use the broom. Call steve. Hehehe

Tip Change

Try a Kamui Black Clear SS tip, If that doesn't help I would be greatly surprised. PM me for a price shipped. I am a authorized dealer. THx

A friend and I did some testing with different shafts and tips, we setup a cut shot and tried to use low right to get as far down table as we could. So you have draw to the rail then spin off the rail.

The top finisher after we each tried about 3 shots with different shafts was a low deflection cue with a laminated tip. The lowest performing was a regular shaft with a regular tip. The difference between the best spin and worst was 1.5 diamonds, which is pretty significant. My Players HXT with a Kamui Soft was almost the best one, his Predator with a Black King was a bit better with how much spin we could get on it, by about 1/4 a diamond.

With an LD shaft you do have to adjust to aiming, but it will be tough to find a regular shaft that you will like exactly the same as the Meucci ones, unless you just buy a Meucci shaft with the joint for your other cues. Which is pretty easy to do.

The 11.75mm shaft is tapered close to the Meucci Black Dot. Not quite as whippy tho.

You can draw the ball all the way down the table, no problem.

They also make a 12.75mm shaft.
 
Im also a fan of plain meucci maple shafts, I certainly feel like I can get better draw with them than my Viking for example, but then again my meucci has a kamui black soft tip and the Viking has a super hard tip. Draw came much easier after putting the soft tip my meucci so I think the tip has more to do with it
