I have an HXTE10 with the standard Kamui Soft tip and an OB Classic with a Kamui SuperSoft. The OB Classic has a stiffer hit, although it would probably be considered a medium hit compared to a broad spectrum of cues (i.e. stiffer than the HXT but not a super-stiff hit, especially with the Kamui SuperSoft tip on the OB Classic; probably feels a bit stiffer with OB's standard Everest tip).

I like them both although I use the OB because I like a wrapless cue.
 
Would like to see a Fat/XL version of this shaft come out with a 13-13.2mm tip and stiffer taper

To be fair to both HXT LD Shafts, and OB2 shafts makers both shafts have high quality finish great workmanship no doubt. In comparing play-ability both play the same when you shoot shots with no english or a touch of english (rolling cue ball to rule out english throw), and high speed to rule out swerve, with consistent stroke

When using extreem english top right or left, or power draw left or right shooting fast speed, OB2 has less CB squirt than the HXT LD shaft; when shaft is bridged at a reasonable bridge length; sure if you use longer bridge with HXT LD it would reduce the squirt, but this is additional steps one could forget if he or she under pressure situation, but certainly could be adapted to easily.
I highly advise buying both shafts to learn pool, but if you are just testing and trying, i would side with OB2

Speaking of experience, i have 35 years total in cuing sports, and understand pool very well; I am continually working on my stroke straightness. True i am not a pro, but could be qualified as top APA rating, maybe A+ or a little higher with A++++ reserved for pro rating.
 
Stiffer. I compared the taper HXT 12.75, against the Predator 314.

The HXT seems to have a bit shorter taper and the shaft seems a little thicker.

Possibly why the couple of people who tried the HXT out said that they liked the HXT over the Pred.

What would u say plays better with english ect what one has less Deflection squirt ect out of the classic or hxt?

a year and a half ago Bill Y. had a thread about the HXT: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=279765 and i bought one based on his assessment. it was with the 12.75 mm shaft.

i thought the cue was really fantastic! i really couldn't believe how much i liked it. especially considering the price.

later last year i bought one with the 11.75 shaft from "Rainman" and i like it even more!

fantastic cues imo...
at unbelievable prices to boot

and all in all these are the least expensive cues i own and i have nothing but good things to say about them.

Neither one is "better." They both do what they claim to do: low deflection with good feel/feedback.

The HXT feels a little skinnier in my hands and feels like it has more whip. The OB Classic feels stiffer.

The feel that I like might be completely opposite of the feel you like.
 
I have LD shafts from Predators...to OB's...and one HXT.

All three shafts are constructed differently...and IMHO, all three shafts play differently. The Predator 314's I have hit light and feel whippy. I once had a couple of Z2's that were even whippier.

The OB Classic shafts I have hit the stiffest and feel stiffer overall, and they are 30" in length. The low-deflection properties also seem to be the best with these shafts (with the exception of the Z2's I used to own). My favorite of the three brands.

The Players HXT has a hit in between the 314's and the OB Classics...stiff, but not so whippy. Low-deflection?...not so much compared to the OB, and slightly less than the 314 shafts. It is a well made shaft...hard to beat for the price...very playable, good quality.

Now...here is what I found out yesterday while playing around with the HXT on the home table: I usually use the 29" HXT shaft (12.75mm) on a 31" Jacoby butt I had made. The hit was always what I considered medium to medium-soft. Yesterday, I put the HXT shaft on my 29" Jacoby D-11 butt...and the hit/feedback from the cue was that it seemed stiffer/hit harder than it did while attached to the 31" butt. So...I pulled out a Jacoby Hustler butt (29") out of another case and played with the HXT attached to that...and the same thing. A stiffer feeling/harder hitting combo than when attached to the 31" butt.

So...if you try an HXT shaft and find it too light-hitting or whippy for your tastes...don't give up on it until you have tried it on some different butts (if you have some).

These are my opinions based on actual usage.

The Players HXT isn't laminated, it's a solid piece of maple. I have a 12.75 converted to 12.2 13" protaper. It plays great for me as it's low deflection but not too low. More like the original 314 I'd say.
