Outsville Ki-Tech Single Layered Tips

Finally got the tips and accu-rack. Will be Wed. before I see my cue man to put a tip on my spare shaft. Local boys that tried the 9b accu-rack did really like it. The idea you can carry the racks in your cue bag is a major +. Most liked the anti-slip backing on it. I did ask for 2 med and 1 hard, but got the s, m, h. for tips but I can deal with that. Hell, the soft might be something I will use.

Sorry about the mix up... I usually check PMs on here and may miss advisory on the paypal....

I'll send you another medium out in the mail tomorrow =)

If you break with Leather you can toss the hard on a break cue... It's 8+ points softer than out break tip but you won't be mushrooming it unless you hand it to Nevel =)

Just wondering, how's your break tip Solid coming about?

Actually will have them out after Derby...

I upped the compression on them with the new mold and didn't like the way they didn't grab the cueball... With the old mold I wouldn't add more pressure for fear of breaking it like I did.. With the new one I cranked it up quite a bit and that sent me pack to processing...

I am very happy with what I ended up with but I haven't let anyone else hit with it... I am taking one to Derby and having Blackburn stick it on a BK2 I am going to let people hit.... IF it gets good reviews I will be sending everyone from the Solid thread tips even tho it's been awhile....

Is it as hard as a Samsara? I switched out to a Madman break tip currently but felt Samsara was still better.

Hahah ummm no not quite as hard since I changed the process... I could get that hard by swapping to straight hardening agents but that takes me back to what I felt was lack of grab on the cueball....

I just had a Samsari put on my break cue. But will hold it for the next time. Save the mail, just pass a med. to Jerry Matchin at DCC, he will get it to me. Plus might be easier for you I am sure you will see him around someplace. He is flying out of Cali on Thursday.

Accu-Stats doesn't let me out among the public if they can help it so have him stop by the Accu-Stats booth and tell Caroll and Jim that he is there and I'll leave it with them if I can't catch up with him....

Always like meeting new travelers tho so you can have him text me as well and we might could meet up for a cold beer after the matches are over... Occasionally I get done before they shut the bar down LOL...

I'll stop by the booth on the days I'm coming down.

These tips are badass man. Will need to pick a few up probably when I'm there. Hoping you get some Outsville shirts soon too.

Holy Cow..... Been back from the Derby since Monday and am still walking around like a zombie.. Didn't help that clients are lined up for year end as far as the eye can see.. Well at least for a few more weeks....

If you sent emails or PMs over the last 3 weeks and have not received a reply bump me again please... I think at this point the only persons waiting on tips are the people who have ordered since Thursday and Lee Brett...

Well those people and the people who were slescted to try the Outsville "Solid" break tips...

I am currently testing what I hope is the final version of the break tip as I have revised it several times after upgrading some equipment... The current tip is testing out at a 90 durometer and is performing very well as a break and jump tip...

I am also doing some testing on various tips starting next week as to COR measurements... Once I am back into hardware mode I will leave the testing station in place since I have more room now and have the intent to test most major tips as new and during life cycle... My intent is to purchase a few tips at a time and test them as new and then subject them to a series of impact cycles and then retest.... I will do some at full install as well as cut down to half size since many people have the installers do that...

Intended tips:

Kamui Black all hardness grades
Kamui Brown all hardness grades
Black Hearts/Ultraskins all hardness grades
G2 all hardness grades
Predator all hardness grades
Lepro
Triangle
Elk Master
Zan
Everest
Sniper

This will be a fairly long test, maybe spanning a year, to get to all of the different tips... Durometer reading will also be provided.. The combination of COR and hardness should tell the tales of the different tips and give everyone a better idea as to what to expect when purchasing a tip they have not tried before....

If anyone has any other tips they think should be included post on the thread on the name and where they can be aquired please...

As I am doing this on my own dime if anyone has tips laying around that they didn't like and won't be using that are on the list feel free to donate....

I'm also working on coming up with a friction test/ chalk adhesion tests...

Will discuss those options as we move down the road.....

I've got quite a few tips. I'm not sure what they are but I'll ship you some if you want
Just let me know

Just ordered the sampler pack...hopefully my dogs won't eat them again! So if I understand correctly, the soft and medium can be shortened, but not the hard? Didn't read the whole thread, thanks, looking forward to them.
:D

Actually I usually suggest having them installed at near full height as they are all firm in nature... The core hardness and materials make the the differences in the soft , medium and hard.... Cutting the Ki-Techs down won't change them much overall and will only shorten the life span....

I do understand that some people do cut them down to half size as a personal preference... If this is done to the Ki-Techs there will be a break in period of hardening the top of the tip that may not be needed when left at full height...

Chris

Almost 3 months of use on the Soft I installed, plying 4-10 hours a week or so. Have not needed to scuff of shape the tip at all. I've miscued a few times (not due to the tip), but every time I've chalked up the spot there was not hard glaze on the tip at all afterward.

Whatever voodoo juice is used to treat the leather works wonders. The tip hardened up a bit from what it felt like the first few days but it still solidly in the soft category. My Kamui Soft got a lot harder over time.

Just tried one of the Softs, wow, what a nice hit! It may actually be a bit too soft for me, I'll have to play for it for a while, at least this soft actually lives up to the name. My son said it felt like he was not even hitting the cue ball when he tried it. No mushrooming, no odd behavior, just a smooth soft compression on the hit. It does what it should and is probably the best soft tip I have tried.

Mike Webb knows his stuff, he always manages to shape the tip just how I like it (or maybe because we both like a dime radius hehe).

Only thing I wish this tip did was to maintain the dark color, after installing it and a bit of use, the sides are brown rather than the solid black they were when new. The Kamui was black till it wore out. It's not even a gripe LOL, just an appearance thing since I got used to having a black tip, not used to seeing a regular brown I guess.

My son is getting a new shaft for Christmas and I'll be installing the Medium for him, if it hits anywhere as good as the soft did for me, I'll be getting another sampler pack with some Mediums and another Soft for me. Great job on these! Will be a recommendation from me every time.

If the fibers had ANY height to them at all you would have had to get them tamped down a bit before the true feel and hardness was reached.. The fibers on single layered tips are usually longer than a layered so break in is always required unless the installer uses finer grit sand paper to finish off the shaping.. Actually hardening should be 1-2 points MAX... I know mine is 6 months old and is a point harder... I checked one on a friends cue the other night and the soft he had installed was the same hardness as installation 8 months ago.. I broke with mine for the first few months trying to see if I could harden it or make it mushroom... It didn't and laughed at my attempts....

The voodoo juice is a combination and is every bit as important as the processes developed...

I am currently back in testing mode for COR... This time it will be more about the journey than the destination.. I have altered my jigs this time allow me to test Balls as well as tips... I figured while I was at it I might as well get some measurements on the New Cyclop balls vs the Aramiths... Still fabricating a few things and have to buy the Cyclop set but I am hoping to be full swing by the end of the week......

Chris

I have mine cut down by half. They take only a few hours of hitting the balls hard and i like to bash the leather down with a ball to harden it quicker.

These tips take no time at all to harden and play amazing. People keep asking me what tips i play with, Arturo Rivera wad the latest person to ask me what i use.. He was very interested in them.

Chris keep up the great work and hopefully we can do the video pretty soon.

Thanks Lee

I have had the soft on my cue since DCC and it's not moved AT ALL. It plays lights out, way better than me. The only thing I have done to it is shape it closer to a dime once.

Whatever voodoo magic Chris is doing to these tips IT WORKS. I feel better with this tip than ANY layered tip I have had on my cue in 20 years.

Seems like Chris tips are getting more and more famous by the day!

Hahah slowly but surely they are getting out there... Just had to up the price on the samplers finally to $20.... Starting to get orders from installers and I can't keep undercutting them... Are quantity breaks on the outsville.com site finally..... Also have new blister packaging on order which should make them easier to keep track of and increase there storage life... Not so sure they would have a shelf life but better safe than sorry...

Chris

Just wondering when you people buy spare cue tips to keep for future use, how many tips do you all buy? I currently am keeping 3(S) for reserve.
