Suggestion for new sub-forum regarding league play?

I hope I'm not missing it, but does anyone think it would be beneficial for leagues to have their own sub-forum?

As in:

League Play

BCAPL

NAPA

TAP

APA

VNEA

Grassroots/in-house local

I apologize if I left out any major leagues, but wondered if it might spread things out a bit, so that topics didn't get lost on the Main Forum.

Also, it would be nice to surf into a specific league sub-forum to discuss play that applied to your area. Situations, problems, "this is how we do it here", etc. etc. Not to mention that folks might see a league in their area that they didn't know about before.

I just moved to Central Arkansas and was looking for a league to join and found out there's a plethora of stuff here. I just happened to stumble upon it by accident, however. Otherwise, I might not have found out about it for a long time.

Anyone have any other suggestions, comments, etc. for something like this?

I hope a moderator would take a look and see what it would take.....

Thanks.

The problem with sub forums is that beyond a few die hards, most folks don't go too far beyond the Main Forum. Rhetorically speaking, of course.

The Main Forum is where most of the traffic is, and what gets the most eyeballs on it.

We have one recurring league thread now, and we will others appear on a regular basis. (To the chagrin of the "real pool players".)

That's my .02

Not knocking the idea specifically, just my experience on how things go here

I agree that some sub-forums tend to get so specific that the miniscule amount of traffic probably doesn't justify the space that it takes up.

I just thought that league play might garner a good amount of views and topics. I could be wrong. :)

As for real players....I like to think I am. Definitely no shot towards you. I understand the bar-banger stigma and I'm not "one of those guys". I try to attend the good stuff like the Southern Classic (may she rest in peace), White Diamond's 9B Calcutta, the Krome Open etc. etc. Haven't made the journey to the DCC yet, but I promise I will. :)

I was just looking for a place to play some regular, local, organized pool and blow off steam 1-2 times a week. I stumbled into a NAPA league and I'm going to see how it goes.

as dub said we have a thread thats been going on for a while now titled " how ya'll doing in league"

its been pretty civil so far i am proud to say. as you know a lot of league threads can get some what controversial. ;)

its for all league players to post how they are doing and some even ask questions.

we have a few pretty regular posters contributing and you are welcome to post also.

i play napa also plus apa. as a matter of fact there are quite a few people in my area that play both leagues.

i went to the southern classic the last 2 years and sad to see it won't be happening again. i was over at harrah's quite a few times checking out the tourneys while also playing in the napa nationals across the street.

I guess the problem I have with the threads that have been going on a while is......well, they've been going on a while. It's tough to jump in and be very relevant when there's 672 responses. Or however many. Lol.

Not to mention that if you did start with the original post and read ALL the way thru, things tend to get side-tracked. So, what started out as a thread on position play can turn into a full-on flame war about......idk, tips, ferrules, or something else. Lol. It's tough to get things back on track.

Just typing out loud here.

check the thread out. its mostly how we played during our league matches.

sometimes we state where we played good or bad.

sometimes we post about what we did wrong in our match.....remember hind sights 20/20 :D
.
even got a couple who brag about their 70-80 % win record. but i guess thats something to brag about.:D

mostly guys giving congrats or giving words of encouragement after a bad night.

some pretty pertinent info given also about certain leagues in certain areas.

we got a few apa guys, a few napa guys . a few bcapl guys and only one that plays acs that i can recall off the top of my head.

and 1 poster whos old man just joined upa that had some questions .

we have discussed defense a few times but no derailments so far.

The leagues will have the main forum pretty soon, as the leagues will be the only pool left. Johnnyt

I would think that leagues should take up most of the conversation around here. I've been playing almost 20 years now, and this is my first season playing in a league. I play in both a team and singles division every Thursday night, and this is BY FAR the most fun I've had in my pool days. The bars around here (charleston, SC) all have a dozen or more tables, in great shape, and the house is packed a few nights a week for league play. Pool is alive and well with leagues.

As others have pointed out, the moderators have created plenty of subforums. Issue is the traffic never materialized.

I think you have a good idea, keeping the league categories as new thread titles until its necessary to create a separate sub-forum.

Example:

LEAGUE: Super Billiard Expo discounts for league members

APA: Central Ark team looking for SL2-SL4
