One of my biggest mistakes was not buying a Herman Rambow cue back in the early 60's. I played quite well then and had the money to buy it. Oh well...

They are mostly only worth a few thousand now. The biggest mistake was not buying a Balabushka in the early 1960's, which are worth a lot more.

My biggest mistake was my 2nd wife - that one was way out of the ballpark!

(ps., now happily married 25 years)

Actually my biggest mistake was my first wife. My second wife is a fantastic lady and I couldn't be happier. You are right about the Balabushka cue. I thought about that after my Rambow post. Shot well my friend.

I like Rambow's - I have one from the 1950's made for a local Chicago player. It's a cool cue.

My biggest mistake, without a doubt, was not buying a particular apartment back in 1994. I had just met my wife and we went to see an apt on 65th and Madison Avenue (in NYC). It was a 9 room apt (3200 sf) that was at auction. It sold for 1.4 million. The maintenance was very high, around $4k per month. I wasn't sure where my relationship was going and was afraid of the ENTIRE commitment. Turns out, I married the girl. Still married 20 years later. The apartment is worth just north of $6,000,000.00 today. Ooops.

Because you didn't end up practicing law, but had all the loans?

Just open up any phone book ....pages and pages of attorneys .....get a speeding ticket ,and receive no less than 10 solicitations for their service.

Damn how many times have you been married?

I dated my wife 6 years before we were married and we have been married nearly 28 years.

She was 15 and I was 16 when we went on our first date.

Biggest cue mistake

First was the Scruggs I bought for $20 and sold for $50. It was a sneaky but still.

Then there was the Black Boar I bought and sold for $150. It was an early 4 pointer and I had no clue what it was but did not like the way it played. I think it was gone the same night I got it.

No, because I ended up practicing law, but have all the loans.

kollegedave

I tried to be as good a father as possible. I have two daughters and they both went to college and I paid for everything and they finished college debt-free and both had good (not new) automobiles.

They are both teachers and making $34K a year. So if they did have debt, I don’t know how they could have paid it anyway.

I know you make tons more, but the debt sucks. But the government and the universities encourage it.

People think lawyers make tons more, but for my entire career and marriage my wife was a P.E. teacher (until just recently), and I NEVER made more than her but she works 9 months to my 12 and she gets off two weeks around Christmas...which one of us is the smart one?

I tell everyone who will listen, stay away from law school and do something more valuable with your time like maybe make balloon animals or eat dirt.

Either you were underpaid or she was overpaid hehe. Every lawyer I know has a house double the size of mine and a summer BMW LOL
