JBs Thread

Fine, but what I said is this place is a zero-sum game. You concentrate on one element and you neglect another. Barton is a classic example - a complete fixation on one, small element of the game, whilst seemingly ignoring the 300lb chicken wing in the room, that stroke of his. Information can mislead as easily as it can inform.

Anyway, table time trumps AZB time for all of us. Your view will be different as you were a relative beginner when you joined, so you're bound to marry your improvement to what you have seen on here. In your eyes they go hand in hand. When you reach the limit of your potential, which we all do eventually, you may see things differently.

ps great players are born, not made.

How do you know what I do and don't practice. Let's make a little bet. You send $500 to someone we trust and I will do ten different shots on video with no "chicken wing" at all. The forum can judge the video. I will post it within 24 hours of you sending the money. If I don't post it OR if the forum judges that my stroke is not straight enough then you win the money.

Care to put you money where your mouth is?

It is painfully obvious you do not understand CTE/Pro One. Yet, you post ignorance as fact. Rather embarrassing frankly. If you're not smart or competent enough to understand the system; or you're stroke isn't straight enough to hit shots when you're precisely on the aim line; or you're too lazy to put in the table time to learn the system properly, you should simply refrain from commenting. I suspect it is a combination of all 3.

Patrick, why is it so important for you to come here and act like a fool? You accuse Stan of running a scam, then why don't you explain the possible motivation he has for doing so? You obviously don't know Stan at all, if you did, you'd realize just how stupid that accusation is. He is one of the finer people I've ever met. You also must have zero understanding of the costs involved in producing a quality DVD such that he has ... twice. He certainly cannot be doing it for the money. And how do you explain all the high level players that are using his system, none of which you could hope to compete with? Do you think he is taking further losses by paying them big endorsements? I hope for your sake you can't be that stupid. It does appear, however, you are that jealous. How embarrassing. You consider yourself to be knowledgeable about the game of pool but you are proving your knowledge is extremely limited.

I'm sure you have aiming down "Pat"

Uh huh! Because I'm Patrick Johnson right?

I think you are. If you're not then my mistake. Whoever you are it's obvious that you don't know how to use CTE and you don't understand the level of precision that CTE affords the user.

And only Pat Johnson has ever been so harping on the use of the words precise and accurate when discussing CTE. You are eerily similar to him in how you express yourself.

So, if you're not him then a close enough reincarnation of his position for me to call you Pat.

You are indeed an all or nothing person.

I (and virtually everyone else here) have all agreed that table time is what is necessary to truly learn and improve. That is a given. Practice, practice, and more practice.

What you fail to recognize is that people must get information somehow. A person could practice 20 hours a day and get relatively nowhere, if they don't know what to practice. Sure, they could stumble onto something, but they are far more likely to develop bad habits.

And you completely ignore the fact that most people do not have unlimited time to be at the table. Time spent here isn't necessarily time that could have been spent at a table; AZB is what I do when I can't play.

One last thing. If "great" players are truly born, not made...should everyone else simply stop playing? Stop trying to improve? What the hell does that have to do with anything? Do we all have to pass the Tim test in order to play?

You can call me Pat. I'm ok with it.

I apparently have a better understanding of it than you do. And my time is way too valuable to invest it bad mouthing other aiming systems. My sympathies to you for being such a miserable, jealous, petty individual that you feel the need to attack such a fine person as Stan. That speaks volumes of your integrity and true self esteem - or in your case - severe lack thereof for either.

Cte pro one works exactly as described in Stan's dvd's. And it can be used with sidespin without small adjustments. It took me 20 months to learn how to use it but I am very happy I finally got it. I wouldn't post this if I was not 100% sure. I am not a master of the system but now I can execute really well.

The real problem with a lot of players who try the system and it doesn't seem to work is the "focal point" and how you stand above the shot to perceive the visuals. And then, they try making adjustments and they start struggling. The bad thing is that they start posting against the system and against Stan. I have done this in the past and I regret. But it was me who was doing things wrong and not the system or Stan. I am very happy I never gave up my cte pro one practice and now I am getting rewarded. It is a wonderful system and gets you to the exact shot lines. But it takes a lot of time.

There are guys in this forum like Anthony (8pack) who know how to play and they are great shotmakers without using cte pro one. And maybe they don't have to learn it. No problem with that. I can't say that this system is for everyone. And you don't have to learn a new aiming system if you already shoot great (like Anthony).

Thanks for reading

Nice post and you are spot on.

Some people don't need any aiming system. For others you may want to learn an aiming system or three to further the footsteps of your journey along.

CTE/Pro1 was a turning point in my aiming and fundamentals. Stan Shuffett has the whole package.

Just wish he wasn't so busy teaching players from all over the country/world, so that he could compete in events more.

If great players were made, there would be mass production, and there would be many more of them. It's a numbers game.

There ARE many more of them. Even in snooker. Mass makes class. More people playing + more access to information/instruction = more great players.

It's a numbers game for sure.

Just like more access to education produces more doctors.

Why, oh why do you guys even acknowledge Thaiger's existence? He is nothing more than a Troll and not even a witty one at that. I have no idea why the Mods here tolerate his presence as he clearly contributes ZERO to the site and is the source of constant bickering. Put him on ignore and feel your enjoyment factor of the site increase instantly.

That is great advice. I would urge all of you who think there is nothing wrong with pool in America to do this.

Everyone who thinks they can play - do it.
Everyone who is further entrenched - do it.
Everyone who is digging their heals in - do it.
Everyone who thinks pool in America is all fine and dandy - do it.
Everyone with their fingers in their ears - do it.
Everyone that is in denial - do it.

Those that are left have a chance. Only those that are brave enough to look for a solution will succeed.

You want me to give you $500 for proving you can play 10 shots without a chicken wing?

LOL.

I know very little about aiming systems, but curious about one thing.

What is the percentage of pro players (top level) that use an aiming system compared to those who do not?

ok.... I'll just stick with my assumption, which is only a couple who are not worth mentioning.

Nobody is saying that aiming systems are for everyone or that Pros must use them for them to gain merit. We know of several that do including Darren ( 2 time US Open Winner), SVB (3 US Opens) has his own with the shaft that he uses, Landon and Stevie.

Guess what - Pros represent a very small portion of pool players - very small. What we should focus on is what makes our games better - not what the best in the world are doing.

I work and have a family - I cannot travel the world playing pool. But if I feel a system helps then why not use it.

There is no replacement for playing 100hrs a week but most cannot do that.

Why even post when you freely admit you don't know what you are talking about? By the way, the best American player uses an aiming system. He now has it so ingrained that he doesn't have to consciously think about it anymore.

And, what has how many current pros, guys that have been playing their whole lives, got to do with the merits of something relatively new to the game? That's like saying Alfred Einstein never used modern computers, so modern computers have no worth. What the current pros currently use has very little bearing at all on what others should use. It's nothing more than a red herring and an excuse for not learning something new.
