Anyone found your perfect Pool Cue Case yet?

JB's interiors "Ultra Pad" IMO are the best.
Chuck Fields seems confidant to switch.
Other then that any leather case is a nice case.

It's not possible to have one single perfect case for all games or applications.
I own 65-cases and I can find something wrong with every one of them.
For instance the 3 x 6 Whitten I'm using looks cool and is great for showing off cues, but it gets knocked over too easy on league nights.
The drunks don't seem to care what case it is while they're stumbling over it.

Rusty Melton needs be added to your list IMHO, PLUS Dennis Swift who is always forgotten for some reason. Dennis has been at this Case made in the USA a very long time, and is a lot of bang for the buck IMHO.

Outside the USA I would have to say Roger with Volturi cases. Great guy with unlimited resources to make anything you would want and surely will be the guy to take over in Jack Justis footsteps in the future.

IMHO you forgot John of JB Cases who is always trying new ideas, and never sit still with what he has achieved in the past.

Rusty and Dennis are great also. I just give the nod to the best in the USA to Jack Justis. He has been making cases for a long time.
Barton is NOT a case maker. He has never made cases. He might be a case designer or case company owner but that's it. I wouldn't recommend investing in any case company in which the owner is involved so much drama. Its not healthy for resale value. JMHO...... You or anyone else doesn't have to agree or argue with my opinion. It is the same opinion to many other players, cuemakers and collectors worldwide.....

Nothing to see here. Same old stuff.

Actually most cases are perfect. Sure there are dogs, however going from my house to my car, from my car to the pool hall, and back into my house, I have found very few cases that cannot accomplish this to my liking.

I am not Corky from Life goes On, I didn't take the short green bus to school, I don't have two left hands or two left feet, I can handle my equipment without worrying about it, or the people around me. Could something happen, sure, I could also get hit by a meteor while driving in a convertible, in the snow, in Florida. That is how much I think something will happen in my case. Mind you I carry a Gus Szamboti, and one of another dozen or so BIG cues when I travel. Not a scratch.

I can use a tube style case to travel light, and use one of a few butterfly cases, I use a Justis, and never had ANY mishaps. But truth be told, you would have a hard time finding a case from a reputable maker that would be a problem.

A couple others that do outstanding work, MATCASE & RICH REMO.
Edited for Phil Eastwood, some of the baddest ass cases made.

Realy so you say John never made a case???????, remember instroke, and who started it and why.

Please review the first part of this u-tube where John talk about how, and why he made his first cases,.

True and Cyrex also does some awesome work.

I found it in 1987, It was A Swift 2 x 4 black with lots of great tooling
It has been to hundreds of pool rooms and many tournaments and been tossed under thousands of tablesall over the US.
The leather has cracked a few places {I have never treated it with anything or it would probably still be like new.}
I have gotten compliments from all over the country, If this one ever wears out , I will buy another immediately.

I have a Mason, a butterfly, a couple of rugged, and used to have a Chas. all are perfect for me.

I like JB because he makes his own innovative case while still provide great functions and customization.

some other "great" case makers who make "awesome looking case" are just follow the old path.

Perfect case

Well worn and handsome, old and functional, just like me.

Dennis Swift is IMHO the forgotten Pool Cue Case Maker, think he has been at it the longest, but I could be wrong. His work has evolved, and Dennis even has his latest creations on "FACEBOOK",

Made in the USA, build to last a life time, and Dennis is just a nice guy not to be forgotten!

Or are you still Seeking Utopia?

I have to say, I devote maybe 1% total time thinking about my case vs time spend on things like cue, tip, chalk quality, etc...

If it's large enough to hold all the cues and shafts (one cue, one main shaft with a backup), and has a pocket for some chalk, a bridge head, small cleaning cloth and a tip tool, I'm happy.

I've had TWO total cases in my pool career, if you don't count the box case I had for the first few years when I started playing in late 80s. The second case I got was a 2x4 that lasted for many years till the top part just crumbled, and it also smelled a lot of that good pool hall smoke smell. Then I got an Elite 2x4 I won on here in a raffle some years back. Never really felt I needed anything better.

Every so often I look at a Whitten or something pretty and sleek and leather, then go "why?, my case holds my cues from my car to the pool hall, why spend an extra $200 to walk 50 feet with it?".

I always like the look of Dennis's soft case. In black of course.

If the case in this link had a JB Cases Ultra Pad interior...it would be my Utopia: http://www.billiardwarehouse.com/cases/action/elite-elcp24.htm

I have this case and love the fact that it's not heavy like leather...has nice sized pockets (with a mesh third pocket for a cellphone) with the zippers where I want them...holds the perfect amount of cues/shafts for a trip to the pool hall...has a top and side handle (plus a strap)...and is inexpensive. I haven't had it but for a year or so...so I can't comment on it's durability...but no issues so far.

The only thing I don't like about it is the lined tubes in the interior are a little loose-fitting...and the cues move around in them a bit more than I like.

The Instroke 2x4 Buffalo case I ordered is on the way to my house. I've owned a 3x7 instroke before and it was too bulky, but I loved the case and it lasted a while. I just sold my JB Rugged case. It was nice and did it's job, but it was uglier than sin. I hope the Az Member that bought it, can enjoy it more than I did. It will hold all my goodies and be my new travel/league case.

I did buy a QK-S 2x3 and it's actually a decent case. The interior is nice and padded, no tubes. The pockets are a little thin, but it's a small case. It holds my player, break, and jump cue, but doesn't hold my extra shaft. Once the instroke comes in, the QK-S will hold my new cue and shafts. I'll probably get a cheap break/jump and through it in there just in case.

Until someone can build a quality leather case, with a solid interior (not the thin prolite stuff), completely customized, made to order, affordable, and in a short time frame; I will have never found my perfect pool case.

I just got a JB Rugged case and have a couple of other decent ones but I always go back to my cheap, Porper 3x6.
Great friggin case and cost me just over 100 bucks.
