Wrap or Wrapless?

Closer to the one I love

What do u guys like and why?

I used to like an Irish linen wrap because it allowed me to slip my stroke hand to where I wanted it even if I was in mid-stroke and not really mess up my shot. I still feel that a nice Irish wrap is hard to beat for comfort and consistency,

I switched to wrapless for the simple fact that I liked the way every little nuance of the hit was instantly transferred to my stroke hand as I shot. It just validates my effort instantly, and somehow I find that comforting. Psychological perhaps... but I have found that my stroke is more consistent and that I think about stroke power constantly from one shot to the next... ball speed is a major concern for most, and I just feel that this helps me to build an instant reference. I love the feedback, I love a crisp hitting, light stick with a medium to hard tip (see the McDermott G501 in my image albums).

I still shoot practice with my old Irish linen wrapped D19, but I am a wrapless addict now.

Regards,

Lesh

Wrap/wrapless

If it isn't Cortland linen it's wrap less.
Cortland has a different texture than regular irish linen
And in some cases after they press and put on a finish on irish linen it's to slick
For me.

wrap provides enough friction to hold cue but lightly, much better stroke IMO. Mine is not, but at times i slip in a latex tube to make it feel like wrapped, or i wear latex glove on my fingers.

Wrapless for me and here is why.

1. I like the feel and feedback I get by using a wrapless.
2. I like that no matter where I put my hand on the cue it feels the same.
3. I like the fact that my hand is never half on a wrap and half off the wrap.
4. I didn't get a maple burl handle just to cover it up.

I like wrapless. Good wood is beautiful so why cover it. Wraps can come loose after awhile. But really we all have different tastes so wrap it up if that is what you like. I think some of the lizard and other wraps look good, Irish Linen just does not toot my horn.

I prefer a cue with no wrap, however lately my hands have begun to sweat badly when I am under even the slightest stress, so now I am resigned to wraps again. I like leather a lot, but it does change the feel of a cue.

My cue has an irish linen wrap, but I usually play with a house cue at the bar I shoot at. I prefer not to call attention to myself (and not just for hustling reasons), so if a house cue with a decent tip is available then I'll use it. I've come to enjoy using them and can definitely appreciate the greater feedback. There has only been one day when I felt a wrap was necessary due to the slip 'n sliding from sweat.

No wrap for me.

The cue rests in my fingers with no pressure, only gravity and friction. Wrapped cues slide through my fingers. Besides, why would you cover that beautiful wood? Might as well use a painted cue.

Linen, because it just feels better in your shooting hand.

The fancier wraps look better, especially on the fancier
cues, but they just don't feel quite as natural at the table.

Wrapless is my last option, due to sweaty hands and
having to wipe the cue down too often. Some of these
have great looking handles though.

All that being said, I can play with any of the above, but
linen is my most preferred.

It's 90% aesthetics to me: go with what looks good on the cue.

For the remaining 10%, I like in order:
1. Leather (ostrich is awesome)
2. Wrapless
3. Linen

My choice is Irish linen, but a more fluffy version, not that extra pressed. Like it because my hands sweats, so it's a good solution, and you can choose almost all colors.

I tried a cue with a wrap other night kinda liked it I've always used wrapless.

What kind of wrap was it? I stated that I like linen
wraps the most, but if the cue has a non linen wrap,
elephant ear is really good. The texture of elephant
ear just feels great compared to the other exotic
wraps that are out there and it feels almost as good
as linen imo.

It was just a linen wrap

Ive kind of wanted another wrapless for a little while now. Grip to me isn't that much of a big deal. I mean I'm not swinging a baseball hat lol Unless your hand sweats badly..then that could be a problem.

Lol well u can give me that lambros and ill give u a wrapless cue deal lol

Wrap less all day and every day, bay bee.

Wipe it down with the paper towel you was your hands with and it looks and feels brand new every time.

Diveney didn't select that sweet piece of cocobolo to have hidden.

Wrap less for me. I like feeling the feedback of the hit it provides. When ever I used a wrapped cue I feel disconnected from the from the shot. My hands are not sweaty so I don't have any idea how much that it be an issue.
Cosmetically no kind of wrapping can be as beautiful as as wood.
