Changes to Player Database search function???

Not sure how long ago these changes were made, but I'm definitely not diggin' em...

1. You cannot browse through the names alphabetically any more.. I used to do this to try to find a player that I knew way back when, but could not remember his name.

2. I often see a tourney listed on a player's stats, but when I follow the link, it only shows the first place player. Weak sauce. I have used this to familiarize myself with ALL the players in an area, by locating a major event in the area, then looking through all the player names. Cannot necessarily do this any more.

Is this something others have noticed? Anyone know why the player database searchability changed so drastically?

It used to work pretty much exactly like the USCF player search (U.S Chess Federation), but now seems to be MUCH less usable.

Opinions?

I believe some of those features are now only available to paying site supporters. I say this because I got a message like that recently while looking up a player's tournament history. If this is the case I can't really blame them. Membership here is cheap and there has to be something held back to give incentive to the masses to help support the site.

I would say that must be accurate.

I just tried it, looked up a random player that isn't a regular "pro" that I've heard of but had a finish posted for the us open bar table, clicked on it and got the whole list.

Don't have time to test it further, sorry. Work beckons

I know i use to be able to find say last years US Open and then easily navigate through previous years of it. I was not able to do that when i tried recently but it could just be me and unfamiliarity wit the "new" set up

:rotflmao1:I like how it used to be, but agree that the limited view is to encourage gold membership.

An I just checked ini out and it appears I was in the top 500 money winners in 2005. I also took 3rd in a women's event  :rotflmao:
