My HORRIBLE DIAMOND install!!

Zack's "On the Road" Cue Repair

So yesterday I get the call....

My Diamond Pro-Am will be to my house at 7:30 p.m. I patiently await till I see the truck come down the road.

I want to tell you in advance that the room the table is going in is sufficient for the table.

The installers brought the table into the room and The FIRST of requests was that they measure from the wall to the edge of the table and make sure it is square and has enough room to shoot. I would think table installers would know how much room on each side of the table you need. The installer RICK then started with the attitude. " I'm NOT moving this table over and over". I thought it was his job to move the table. He said just run your stick around the table. That's not what I wanted. This guy Rick got very loud, argumentative, and was cursing at me.

I also want to note that my 67 year old mother was in the room as this guy was carrying on.

My SECOND Request was that they level the table. This was not done correctly. I could hear the two guys when they put the level on it say that's Good Enough.. WOW!! To any pool player you know if its not level its not good enough.

1. Did not take the time to install the table properly.
2. Did not level the table.
3. Did get what I was suppose to get. They said Cyclops Balls, I got Aramith. NOT A BIG DEAL.

What do you Az'ers think I should do? And how I should handle this?

were the installers from Diamond? If so I would definitely call them and tell them. Also the mixup on the balls. If I paid for a new diamond to be delivered and set up I want it perfect !

I guess I would call Diamond HQ and ask to speak to Paul.

But, I would have to ask why you let them leave without insisting that they level the table properly and correct anything else you were unhappy about with the install? I would have also told them I wanted the right balls and asked how that was going to be fixed.

Now that they're x miles on down the road your chances of getting this corrected have slipped a bit.

When I buy my diamond and pay the premium, that nonsense won't slide. I'm very patient and understanding but I would have a fit if that happened to me

Wow, I hope that you didn't actually have Diamond people doing that. My experience was the polar opposite here in PDX. I hope you get everything taken care of.

By the guy's attitude it was clear they weren't going to make any effort to do it right. You can insist all you want, they're not going to do a 180-degree attitude adjustment. Complaining to them would probably result in an even-worse job. I'd want them out of my house as soon as possible and then call Diamond to make it right.

I don't think we know any of that. For all we know they were Diamond installers. In any case what I do know is that if you talk to people who are doing a job you've paid for there is usually a way to get them to meet your minimum expectations. Maybe not in this case. I think we need more info.

Let me ask did they use a carpenter level, or a machinist level?

I think if you tell an installer you're not satisfied and explain yourself in a calm, logical manner most professionals will try to make you happy. And besides, I don't think you're getting ahold of the boss at 8 at night. The idea to to get it fix before they leave. Maybe even offer them a couple extra bucks. There's almost always a way.

I only delt with Diamond the whole time. I don't know what they did on their end.

I was so aggravated with these guys I just wanted them to leave. They were totally disrespectful. They even raised their voice to my mom.

I have a 9' GC IV, but wanted a Diamond light to go over it. I called, and they delivered(took some time). After they left I set it up, and noticed some scratches on the corners. I called Diamond, and they said they would bring a new one, and swap them out.
I also noticed that the cord on the light was extremely short and ask if they could put a longer one on it. They said NO PROBLEM. They called a few weeks later, and said the light was on the way. I asked if they remembered the longer cord, and the man said that he took care of it personally. The light arrived, same short cord. I took the light, said goodbye, and remember feeling that I was DONE. I swapped out the cord myself.
