My HORRIBLE DIAMOND install!!

Yes, but at the DCC and other big events they're using a special dolly to move the tables. With that it's no big deal. At someone's garage it's a different deal.

Either way I'm not saying he should have to settle for less than perfect.

I am almost certain by the OP's description of the install (brought the table and screwed on the legs) that they had the cart.

Anyway what I saw at DCC was they got it as close as they could with the cart and dropped it, and then they pushed the table by putting either their knee or toe against the leg and pressing downward which put a sideways force on the table to move it an inch at a time. The big camera boom operator was doing it. I can't remember if he had help or not.

I thought you couldn't scratch those plywood Diamond tables.

The diamondwood material that is scratch resistant is on the top and sides of the rails. But other parts of the table are regular wood and/or plywood, which can be scratched. I forget if the skirts have a diamondwood finish on them or not. I saw this at the factory tour, you can see which pieces have it and which don't when you look from the side of an unassembled given table part.

I guess I would call Diamond HQ and ask to speak to Paul.

But, I would have to ask why you let them leave without insisting that they level the table properly and correct anything else you were unhappy about with the install? I would have also told them I wanted the right balls and asked how that was going to be fixed.

Now that they're x miles on down the road your chances of getting this corrected have slipped a bit.

Well one reason to not prevent them from leaving, is that such an action might be criminal depending on specific state laws, and in Missouri, I do believe such an action is criminal or could easily become a criminal charge.

You wouldn't want to be forced into hiring a shady criminal defense attorney to defend criminal charges over a diamond table. :D

However, the actions of this Diamond installer, if true, I think, expose Diamond to all kinds of POTENTIAL civil liability.

I think it is in Diamond's interest to make things o.k. with this guy. In my view, such a package should include a written apology to this guy's mother.

The installer that was swearing in front of this guys elderly mother showed extremely poor form.

If a proffessional doing a job curses AT me, that's when I inform them I no longer want their services and contact whoever is in charge of that crew and calmly explain what happened. There is a chance the crew will realise when you ask then to leave t gat this could be very bad for them that they will apologize and spend and enormous amount of time making sure it's done right, but if they don't your better off sending them away anyways.

Just re-read the OP. Don't see that.

David, do you really believe I'm going to physically prevent them from leaving?

One other thing: unless the lawyer is going to do this pro bono there is no way it is cost efficient for an individual to bring civil action against a corporation. Your fees would probably end up exceeding the cost of the table and then some. Versus litigation, a $100 tip would be way, way, way cheaper (and more effective) in my non-legal opinion.

Plus, you wouldn't have to deal with any attorneys :-)

If you paid by credit card, call credit card company and refuse payment. Call Diamond and tell them you have canceled payment and to come get their table. That will get their attention:angry:

I want to personally thank Glen (KingCobra) he has went out of his way to help me understand how to level the table and to offer his services to straighten this problem out.. At NO charge I might add.

I expect you will be really pleased with your table.

Too bad you had to go through this first.

Maybe

the thing with Diamond, although their tables are awesome they have the worst install network and customer service, it's a very ghetto operation

having said that, the competitiors are not much better

Maybe it is different in certain parts of the country. I live in N.E. Ohio and have had Diamond set up and do service work several times, all with no hitches and excellent work. My friend who lives near by also received excellent service.

At DCC Paul Smith is installing and moving tables. They don't get much better than him!
