He would only need to sell 100 cases, and yes if he made a special challenge match edition ultimate rugged, ild buy one too

My prediction is for those cases to hit $200 by the end of the year. They're creeping up to that price anyway.

Yup, some nylon, some cloth, some cheap labour, a zip and a lot of yapping. $200. Good work if you can get it...

What crawfish? See, this is what we're all waiting for - your version of events.

But I think there's more chance of Lou wanting to play you again for free than you ever providing that. Even megalomaniac spin-meisters know when they're on a sticky wicket.

How so? I just have not felt like writing about it in a narrative yet.

Is there some schedule or deadline I am not aware of?

I don't owe you anything and the forum is going along fine without it.

Seems like you are the one with his tits in the wringer over this.

It it sounds like your new dealer in England is complaining about a potential price increase.
That's what happens when those Brit's go without their cup of tea in the morning.
I could negotiate a new deal between you and my friend from across the pond, in case one of you guys
gets banned, again, before the price increase goes into effect.

JB I still owe a trip report from the last Mosconi cup, I'm a little late but I feel I have until December of next year! I will take care of a write up when I am ready. ;)

Because you're going to have to answer a lot of awkward questions, and you know it.

Like what? What do think there is that hasn't already been discussed?

I know I played and you didn't. I know that I am not an anonymous person sniping at people and you are.

Those are things I know for sure.

It's not going to happen so stop going on about it.
This thread is for Barton's Crawfish Salad.
Say, man, why you want to trash and hate on Barton? He played the match...where were YOU?
So he woofed and got beat....that's been happening in pool forever. So what?
What's wrong with him wanting another match to try and get his money back and pick up some glory along the way?
I got a hunch you're a classic knocking railbird who wouldn't bet a nickel you were even alive.............BUT you know how to run every table layout. From the rail, that is.
Instead of cutting up jackpots, maybe you'd make a few bucks by promoting the action. Looks to me like it would be fun to bet on.
Rubber matches are good for that. You sound odd.

Whatever form of legal escrow is possible that's what I'd do.
Mr. Barton, why is any of that necessary?
Just show up (both of you) at the designated place, lay the post money on a table over to the side and start playing. Been done that way forever...why make it complex?
Even the dumbest pooch knows you'll both have tush hogs there going heeled in case of an attempted heist. You could even hire an off-duty cop for a couple of hundred and he could just sit over there in a corner with a pump shotgun and keep an eyeball on everything.
It's a private affair. Charge the spectators 100 bucks each to come in and watch. If they don't like it, tough, they can hit the street.
So simple.............JUST GO AT IT!
:)

By the way I have almost 20k sitting here, when can we make game #2?

But honestly, we all pretty much know that there won't be a next time.

Aren't you the same guy that repeatedly said Lou should have bet more when he had the chance (in reference to when you told Lou you wanted to play for 20-33k, he accepted for 25k, and then you crawfished and backed out of that amount and would only play for 10k with the excuse that he took too long to answer)? Well, as you are so fond of saying, you should have bet more when you had the chance.

For me it would be necessary to insure that the match takes place. I learned a lot in the run up to this one and don't want to repeat the mistakes.

If I could go back I would have insisted on the full amount from the beginning just to not have the option of backing out for a lesser amount.

I don't want to have any "muscle" there. Just a match without the drama.

The games that were played surrounding the betting BY BOTH SIDES won't be repeated.

Lou didn't accept when I offered. There is a big difference. He came over the top when it was too late for him.

That's right, I should have bet more when I had the chance.

Well then, just find out where this guy "Lou" plays (his home room), bring your posse, walk in and lay the rough hustle on him.
"Okay tough guy, I am here, I got money, let's gamble one more time...get your hillbilly ass up here".
No need in all that "build up" as you call it.
And who cares if it's a "lesser amount"......you got his action. If you beat him then you can schedule another match and then another match and then another match and on and on. If you kept his con, the guy could become a regular customer and all you'd do is service your account. You might be able to drain him for years, if he's stubborn and hard headed enough.
You young guys know ZERO about how to build up a customer base...you could've learned a lot from Grady
??? Why is that so difficult ???? By the way, ALL serious money matches are 'drama'....it is what it is.

I liked Grady a lot. One of the few pros who ever bet on me playing one pocket. To his detriment unfortunately.

This isn't a normal customer relationship as you think of it. This is something else and has to handled differently than the standard pool room barking. If all else fails then I will certainly go to the room he plays at and try to make a game.

By drama I mean something else that's already been played out. External issues that I let get in the way of the actual game. Can't do that and expect a good result very often.

Repeat mistakes? John you showed your ass from here and to hell and back and back and back. You made the whole thing a gong show. Crazy dollars, crazy statements, crazy conduct, crazy entrance, crazy actions during match. I can't speak for supporters but I'm sure you lost a bunch along the way. It doesn't matter. You put up your cash. Stuck out your chest and got your balls shot off. Any talk of a do-over is just blah blah. NOBODY believes this. I can't speak for Lou but I doubt he would have the stomach to tolerate that crazy ride again. Even for the easy payday I'm not sure I could.

In my wildest dreams I couldn't image you could have acted worse and played as bad as you do. You didn't disappoint. Thx again for arranging for stream and the irrevocable documentation of the whole fiasco.

Nick
