how are ya'll doing in league ?

80%? Not happening here.

Off to a rough start in masters. Not sure why. Could be because I was hoping there wouldn't be a team this session. Oh well. Gotta pull up my pants and finish it out.

I'm so glad I quit our 8-ball team.
I had the highest win percentage with 56%

Our captain, that was hell bent on thinking he's the best player, was below 40%... lol

Well, APA 8-ball session started last night, and once again, our team gents bent over the table first week. Last fall, a team folded last minute, and nobody told us. We ended up getting a bye. Last session, a new team cancels on us at the very last minute. We get pissed, as we were there ready to play, and try to take a forfeit. The LO tells us we can't take a forfeit the first week of play, and we have to make it up.

So last night, we're scheduled to play the same team first week that we were scheduled against last session. Well, apparently said team has broken up, and owes $205 in back dues. However, several of those players, including the captain, are now on different teams. Does anyone bother to call my captain and let him know? No.

On another note, 9-ball starts tonight. My first session playing, and my captain says I'll be playing a lot due to my lower handicap.

AZB needs a middle finger smilie??? :p

To get to 80%, I would have to win my next 14 straight matches. Not gonna happen.

I've won my last 12 in a row, and it only brought my lifetime percentage up to 56%

I can't imagine how many more I'd need to win to get to 80%. Math is hard

To your credit you have played twice as many matches than I have. There is very little chance after 400+ matches that I will be at 80%...that would be pretty sick since I usually play the highest handicap players on the other team.

I'm so glad I quit our 8-ball team.

lol 2 pack Dave, now that is funny...at least you can say you win more than half the time!

Dammmn!!...another 12 in a row and you will break the 60 mark :D

Got into the LTC which is scheduled in the first weekend of June. Hopefully we do good and go to Vegas.

Lost my first ever APA 9-ball match by 4 points tonight. Had a hard time getting started, and couldn't catch up.

8-Ball Division Champions!

We went wire-to-wire, first place first week to the Championship last night. It was close, went down to the last match, but we pulled it out, 7-5. (I won again, 13-0 this session.)

I have a great team. I'm not sure how far we'll progress with Tri-Cups and/or States, but these folks are great people. We set the team up in a fashion that we were gonna have fun this session, and it showed.

Phew! It would have been horrible to have such a great session and then lose at the end.

New session starts next week, sigh...

Great job justadub! It's nice to not only have a solid team, but one with chemistry. That helps a lot. I have played on teams where the chemistry is good, as well as on teams where it is sort of meh...where people leave early often and hang out elsewhere sometimes unless it is time for them to shoot. Then the shoot and go back to hanging out at the bar or wherever.

I don't think our new session starts until June 1..switched to Sundays for Double Jeopardy which will be nice as it starts earlier in the day vs Thursday nights where I get home at 1130 on average. I have to play a minimum of 4 times to technically stay on a roster since I was a dumbass and won a 9 ball spot for regionals. That's ok though...not too much longer and football starts lol (few months I know).

We play our last match tonight for it is the end of the season. We have 1st place sewed up so even if we lose every match tonight, it doesn't matter. Personally, I have not played very well this year, compared to past years. Even though we did well as a team, I was really disappointed in my play.

My teams always did best when we had fun as our top priority.

Sooo... when are you going up to a 6? :D

Next session, I hope. Seriously.

I think that I have too many innings on average to go up. Of course, it doesn't help that this session I went back to the 8-ball break, from the side. Really makes a mess out of the table, but I've found that works to my advantage against many of my opponents. It seems they aren't as patient as I am :p and get frustrated trying to clear a messy table.

(I did get the 8-on-the-break in my match last night, too. Really took the wind out of my opponents sails...me being down 1-2, then all of a sudden i'm up 3-2, in moments.)

APA 9-ball Summer Session started. Only 4 teams again.

We checked the paperwork for the other team and the names didn't sound too familliar. Come to find out, they stacked the team with a bunch of guys I've played against from New Orleans. They put up a SL4 and my team put me up. I broke and ran twice, but he kicked out of a few safeties and kept the score within 2 points. I ended up running out the last rack to win 38/27 giving us a 13-7 win. Their whole team is Super 4's and Super 5's. Their SL5 played our SL5 and won 38-37, so we lost 8-12. So we were tied after the first two matches, when I left.

I was breaking around 28mph and getting whitey airborne about 2 feet off the slate

I think that I have too many innings on average to go up.

Keep in mind that doesn't necessarily matter. There are other factors or variables that come into the equation outside of just innings. Win/loss is another one. Here is an example. About 5-6 years ago I beat a 6 5-0...wasn't even close. The innings weren't necessarily that low, but here is the kicker....he moved up to a 7 the following week lol!

If I had a choice between breaking and running 2 racks every match and losing vs shooting 4+ innings and winning, I would choose winning every time. I don't care about not having the lowest average innings of the 7s. I care about my win/loss, as well as helping my team out with coaching or any other way I can etc.

PS...2 pack Dave, maybe focus more on accuracy not speed on the ol break mkay?

First Week

Still seething from the sandbaggers that knocked us out of the playoffs a couple of weeks ago. Beat another 7 in 8 ball 5-0 in 6 innings with 2 safes on blown b/r . If I could just be this focused all the time. I did have two dry breaks though, how does that even happen in 8?

Our team finished first in our division in 8 and 9 ball. This means we have 2 bye weeks before Cash Cup since we don't have to play in the playoffs. Good thing too because my game has suffered as of late. Possibly trying to make too many changes at once. Next weekend is Cash Cup and City Cup the weekend after that. Tournaments are interesting, but I hate the way it brings out the true a-holeishness in a lot of APA players.

I know the big prize is the NTC in Las Vegas in August, it's what we all shoot for. We've managed to get hot at the right time for last couple of years and have qualified once in 8 and once in 9. This year we enter our LTC with a chance in both, hopefully we get hot again. I have witnessed really good players fold under the pressure of the LTC and a potential qualification for the NTC, one time I completely erupted, but I think I have this thing figured out. If you commit to going regardless of whether or not you qualify it takes off a tremendous amount if pressure and when you get to the LTC you can just have fun and play, what the hell, you'll be in Las Vegas anyway. If you don't qualify you enter some of the mini's, you get the environment, you still meet a ton of other players and make contacts. It can be a blast anyway. Don't get me wrong, it's really something to go there and play and that's what we shoot for, but you can experience quite a bit of the tournament by just being there.
So I was wondering, if you all know: When you do qualify, usually, generally, the LO had a "prize fund" for the qualifiers and will fund a certain portion of your trip, although some LO's don't do that. I was wondering what your qualifiers receive in the way of a travel fund? Is it paid out right away or when you get there? Are there certain conditions for receiving the fund?
...and where do you stay and keep your cash and what's your room number.... (just kidding)

Trip

Ours throws $250 to you for the airfare and the rooms are covered unless you dont want to bunk up, they you pay the upcharge. Also, the teams that qualify get to split a purse for the tourney. 8 pays better than 9 because there are more teams and I think first place team got about $3500 last year and on down. I remember getting an extra $100 from APA nationals when I got there and signed in. I guess they felt extra generous.
